John Kelly believes women were “sacred” in the good old days

Filed in National by on October 20, 2017

“When I was a kid growing up, a lot of things were sacred in our country,” he said. “Women were sacred and looked upon with great honor. That’s obviously not the case anymore, as we see from recent cases.”

Kelly’s got his aged head up his old man ass. It wasn’t women that were sacred…it was the silence of women that was sacred. It was the powerlessness of women that was sacred.

Josh Marshall summarized the Old Man Kelly doctrine thusly:

The old days were good. We had real religion. Things were right with women. There was no abortion. Honor was sacred and respected. Now it’s all crap because Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D)

Or basically,…blacks and rap music.

John Kelly believes women are “sacred” ― or at least they used to be.

Kelly, the White House chief of staff, made the comment during a news conference Thursday afternoon that focused on President Donald Trump’s bungled phone call to the widow of a slain soldier. Kelly lamented that, unlike in the good old days, some things no longer get respect ― like Gold Star families, religion and women.

“When I was a kid growing up, a lot of things were sacred in our country,” he said. “Women were sacred and looked upon with great honor. That’s obviously not the case anymore, as we see from recent cases.”

It’s unclear what exactly Kelly was referring to. But his comment comes as numerous women have levied sexual harassment and assault allegations against film executive Harvey Weinstein, and women are sharing stories of abuse on social media under the hashtag #MeToo.

Objects can be sacred. Women are people.

Kelly’s speech was Trumpian. And how did he say all that without ever mentioning Myeshia Johnson? Even if he believes Trump didn’t mean to upset her, she was upset.

I think if you added “until Donald Trump began running for president” to the end of every one of those “sacred” sentences, they would make more sense.
