Bob Marshall Draws First ChallengerJordan Hines. Pretty impressive resume, although membership in the Monday Club is hardly a qualification.  Questions: What does he stand for? Where is he on minimum wage, death penalty (where Marshall, to put it charitably, has been wobbly), willingness to raise taxes to pay for vital programs, etc.? What is the raison d’etre for his candidacy beyond his desire to be somebody? Like, say, for example, Sherry Dorsey Walker, who may well run again? He also sure has held a lot of jobs in a short amount of time. Why? I agree that it is time for Marshall to step aside as he’s become a less reliable supporter of progressive issues.  But I’m tired of vanity candidacies, even (especially?) successful ones like LBR’s.  I’m in no way dismissing Hines’ candidacy, just looking for the substance behind the candidacy. There’s also this from a previous thread:

Jordan Hines has been going around announcing that he is Ciro’s (Poppiti) field director, as well as a legal aide in the wills office. He did it just last week at an event in Dover on a weekday morning. In addition, he has two part time seasonal employees and two seasonal interns who do double duty. Well, I mean, what does a register of wills need with seasonal employees. Is there a “will season?”

Trust. But verify.

Impossible To Quantify Sheer Corruption Of Michael Flynn.  How Trump could possibly make him NSA Director with the highest possible security clearance is mind-boggling.  His kid was in on it as well.

Mnuchin The Moocher.  He’s wealthier than you, Trump hired him,  which means he can spend your dollars to view the eclipse and to go on his honeymoon.

How ‘Infrastructure’ And ‘Resilience’ Can Minimize Impact Of Future Disasters.  People are thinking about this and doing something about this.

DACA: Deal Or No Deal?  Probably both.  I love the response of one of the worst people in America:

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said if the deal is true, the “Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable and disillusioned beyond repair. No promise is credible.”

‘The Time Of Death Is Always 4 AM’. That quote, from a Delaware funeral service director, has been seared in my mind for years.  He was talking about how when nursing home staff makes its appointed rounds at 4 am, they discover the bodies. Never mind if the residents had been leaning on their call bells for hours, response to those bells on overnight shifts was negligible and negligent.  In this case, the first call came at 3 AM, with the next call at 4 AM.  Rick Scott is demanding answers, but lack of government oversight is epidemic throughout the country. Think Florida is any different?

Amazon Axes Negative Reviews Of Hillary’s Book.  America’s most dangerous company.  Not because of this. Because ruling the world is their goal.

What do you want to talk about?

RE: Ben. Democrats snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, again…

I’m liking the rollout of “Medicare for all” this week. It gives Dems a positive to focus upon. Moves the needle on the national discussion and you can make a case for it compared to any Republican plan.

I like it for that reason, and also that it’s so simple even American voters can understand it.

Apropos of nothing else today, Politico, of all places, has a really interesting story about research, and lack thereof, into the effect of more CO2 in the atmosphere on food crops.

Short version: It appears plants do grow faster — but the resulting crops contain fewer nutrients.

The sponsors of the Senate Medicare for All bill have missed some crucial opportunities for framing the bill:

    – Repeal and replace Obamacare…. with Medicare for all!
    – Corporations need relief from the cost of employee health care premiums!
    – Phase it in by allowing people to buy in at age 55. That’s a key Trump/FOX News demographic.

Regarding young Mr. Hines, growing up in the foster care system is not a qualification to be an elected official. Nor is it a disqualifier. It is irrelevant. Let us not forget that he served on the campaign staffs of Sean Barney for State Treasurer and Ciro Poppiti for Lt. Governor. So clearly politics are not his strong suit – that would be a relevant qualification to serve in the legislature. We can only hope that all the ambitious “leaders of tomorrow” like Mr. Hines will unite behind one qualified and appropriate candidate to challenge the shitstain that is Bob Marshall. A multiway primary all but guarantees Marshall’s reelection. Maybe Sherry Dorsey will run again…

  8. chris says:

Chatter that Sherry Dorsey is running for State Treasurer….big mistake, she can winMarshall’s seat and will lose Treasurer …..she only lost by a few dozen votes against Bobby M 4 years ago…

  9. She has no finance background whatsoever. In other words, a perfect candidate. She is a vanity candidate in search of an office and she’ll eventually find one. IF KHN can do it, so can she.

BTW, do you know just how humble she is?:
