Wilmington Shootings Exacerbated By Lack Of Political Will. Same assholes who throw millions at corporations don’t fund proven ways of preventing violence:

But no local or state dollars have been allocated to implement the key component of the CDC roadmap: Use data such as truancy records, emergency room visits and domestic abuse allegations to identify at-risk children, and intervene in their lives early — while in elementary and middle school — when the information signals a potentially life-alerting alarm.

No money was allocated by former Wilmington Mayor Dennis P. Williams or former Gov. Jack Markell. And newly elected leaders Mayor Mike Purzycki and Gov. John Carney have yet to put any money behind the CDC’s data-focused road map.

In interviews with The News Journal, Carney acknowledged that the data plan was a state responsibility, but said he would not allocate more state dollars for the city until he was assured all expenditures were being used wisely.

Gee, wouldn’t it be great if he used that same criterion for the millions being thrown at corporations in the name of economic development?  Yo, John, Dennis Williams isn’t mayor any more. Important series from the News Journal.
