Can Delaware Liberals theoretically raise $50,000 for a primary challenger to John Carney?

Filed in National by on July 5, 2017

It is a simple question. Based his track record so far, can we get 100 Delaware liberals and progressives to pledge $500.00 each? Money talks.

I’m in, so the goal is now 99 Delaware liberals and progressives on the record pledging $500.00 each to signal their disgust with this travesty of a budget and the terrible “leadership” that foisted it on this state.

Say yes or no in the comments, and if we get to $50,000 in pledges we’ll go on to phase 2 – setting up a fundraising page and start turning those pledges into real money thereby giving some qualified candidate a running start at challenging Carney.

    I’m in.

Not in for a hypothetical challenger.
Liberals are like a JJ Abrams TV series. Great ideas, crappy execution. Show me a warm body who will push for a progressive agenda and I’m in.

  3. jason330 says:

Warm bodies need cold cash. It is a suck ass system, but there you have it.

For me – Carney’s record is plenty enough to work with to get started.

BTW – thanks for the comment. Every yes or no is a step toward answering the question.

  5. Yes, absolutely.

  6. Joshua W says:

Could instead be a thousand liberals to donate $50? I don’t have $500 I can just throw down at a moments notice.

  7. Paula says:

What about the crowdfunding site, CrowdPac — is that no longer in play? Joshua W — these are theoretical pledges for the moment — $20 set aside per month will add up to $480 by this time next year…. If I can get my $25 back from CrowdPac, I’m all set to pledge $505.00.

  8. Tom Kline says:

Why not get out of the Dem party and form a 3rd party?

  9. Jason330 says:

Thanks Paula. We’ll need to expand well beyond the readership of this site to get to 100.

If all liberals that orbit Network De, Delaware United, PDD, BlueDelaware, and other issue based groups all turned out I think we could get to 100 pledges fair quickly.

I’m in for $2000 to primary every Democrat who has been down there for 10 years or more. They all need to get a little shaken up!

  11. Gilberto says:

    thank you, it means lots.

  12. Sam Guy says:

Thank you Delaware Liberal. Your support is appreciated.

I’m with Ben. I don’t want to donate to someone who turns out to be Stephanie Hansen or someone like her. I want to see the pig before I buy the poke.

Besides, $500 is a week of health insurance. And no, I’m not kidding.

  14. jason330 says:

Look at it this way – it is a promise to put up $500 is someone announces a primary who you could support.

Further, there is no way Hansen or some mobbed-up corporate Dem is going to primary Carney. If it happens, it will be a complete screwball or a progressive who is as appalled by Carney as you and me.

  15. Arletha says:

Have been taking little over a month.

“there is no way Hansen or some mobbed-up corporate Dem is going to primary Carney.”

Sure there is. If a credible primary candidate declares, guaranteed at least one or maybe two mobbed-up Dems will make sure it is a three or four way primary.

I might be able to squeeze some primary money out of some affluent beach liberals
