Hansen Takes Both Sides on CZA Gutting
When the vote came down, she was for it. But not until she made sure everyone knew that she was also against it.
Though she ended up supporting the bill, Sen. Stephanie Hansen read a statement outlining her reservations about casting a “yes” vote.
“Failing companies and those just limping along are usually incapable of cleaning up the mess they make,” Hansen said. “And companies that are operating just fine right now will do only what they are expected to do and only when it is discovered.”
I would love to read the complete statement if anyone has it. The statement and eventual vote created an online donnybrook in which Hansen’s critics charged her with voting on the side of her law firm’s clients. Hansen refuted that allegation outright and admonished detractors to “Stop it.”

What I’d like to here about is the process and what DID go into her vote. To many this reeks of backroom deal cutting. There were no public meetings and simply thrown the JOBS, JOBS, JOBS blanket of rationalization over everything is not persuasive.
She should have recused herself due to perceived conflict-of-interest and gone Not Voting. Bill still would have passed.

The fundamental flaw in the CZA act bill is the assumption that denrec will enforce environmental law or hold business’ to their agreements.
Amen to all of the above. The audio of the vote should be available to the public and I know a few people who are eager to make transcripts. I was not happy with her performance: understatement.
The only thing DNREC consistently enforces is rules against some poor guy’s septic system failing at a trailer where there are no lawyers to fight back
You either vote yes or no and be held accountable for your vote ….some long statement expressing concerns does NOT cut it Stephanie! Can you say bought and paid for by Young Conaway Stargatt and Taylor law firm?? Dems get what you pay for folks! Delaware Way all the Way!
I’m very sure Hansen will prove to be a better state Senator than her GOP opponent. You can disagree with a vote without being disagreeable.

This is what we have come too in Delaware just like Washington. The better of 2 evils. The biggest environmental bill in Delaware’s history. Like the R’s in Washington with Trump, you so called liberals are making excuses for her.
@lori: From what I read above, exactly one person offered a half-hearted defense of Hansen. I’m not the most liberal person, but I do know how to count. Do you?

@lori: I have no problem with people voting for her instead of a knuckle-dragging Republican, but they should have done so with clear eyes. If they’re making excuses for her, their eyes aren’t clear.
