Wilmington Chief of Police: Culture Needs To Change. Couldn’t agree more. Get their lazy asses out of HQ and out of their cars and into the communities. Oh, and have them on patrol at the time that crime is at its highest.  Alby is correct: Police unions are an impediment to effective law enforcement.

They’re ‘Laughing At America’. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross cut off mid-filibuster. European audience cheers and laughs. Trump’s right. America’s become a laughingstock.

MSNBC Doubles Down On Failure:  Hires conservative pundit Bret Stephens.  Guess they learned nothing from Greta Van Susteren.

Check Out EPA’s New Water Safety Chief.  A gigantic fox guarding the henhouse. Another mockery of government.

  1. Paul Hayes says:

MSNBC is owned by Comcast. It is the Comcast board who now decide what [talent] is featured and by those selections determine the poltical slant of the “Network”. Liberal voices have been supplanted by voices less…liberal.

  2. Paul Hayes says:

“Huge Pedophile Scandal Rocks Catholic Church.” This is olds, not news.

  3. Paul Hayes says:

These scandals demonstrate that while the Roman Catholic Church may not be wrong on all of it’s teachings on sexuality, well, they’re just completely wrong. Steven Gaskin, remember him of “Caravan” and the Tennessee commune experiment, once said that institutions that are “against” stuff are against it because they have nothing, no wisdom, to contribute to the conversation. Ergo, beware religious taboos, they are hiding something.

  4. mouse says:

Sexual issues are the whole emphasis among conservative religious nuts. They are all hiding something behind their morally bankrupt ideology

  5. Lashlarue says:

Idiot elected politicians, idiot promoted/appointeds and atrocious bail and sentencing guidelines are an impediment to effective law enforcement.

  6. alby says:

In Wilmington, failure to leave the police HQ or work at night are bigger impediments to effective law enforcement.

  7. anonymous redux says:

paul hayes: agree with you about the Catholic Church, but I’m not so worried about msnbc. we don’t need a Fox News for the left. a cheerleading news network might (does) make us feel good but leads to complacency. it helps to know how the other side views us, what the other side thinks. the problem with van susterin is that she’s annoying as hell whatever her politics. but I don’t have a sense that she’s proselytizing for the right. msnbc’s Morning Joe people are sometimes accused of being too conservative, but ask trump if he thinks they’re providing him any comfort. all in all, there are still more progressive voices on msnbc than on any other network.

  8. Paul Hayes says:

anon: I agree with the point that we don’t need a leftwing Fox. Terrible idea. And having watched Gretchen, I’m not especially happy with her interviews. She tends to encourage center right thinking, which while being better than crazy, is still crazy today. I don’t want MSNBC to be a corporate mouthpiece. We get enough of that already. Moreover, I hate all the time filled with these stupid interviews letting guests simply say their talking points ad nauseam. How about news, repeated on the hour, with a lot less empty palavering.

  9. LashLarue says:

Alby, I really dont disagree with your sentiment, it’ll take years to undo the damage Williams did.

  10. Vince Ryan says:

Recently, the General Assembly passed one of the only pro-consumer pieces of legislation this session.

Dover, DE – On June 27, 2017, the Delaware State Senate voted nearly unanimously (24-1) to pass House Substitute 1 for House Bill 80 (“HS 1 for HB 80”). This measure, a substitute to the Department of Insurance’s original HB 80, targets unfair discriminatory practices used by automobile insurance companies to determine premium costs.

“For too long, automobile insurance companies have been using unfair practices to increase premiums,” said Commissioner Navarro. “As a candidate, I pledged to address this issue. While HS 1 for HB 80 was not all that the Department of Insurance was advocating for, it is a major step toward insurance premium fairness. I would like to thank my staff for their tireless efforts to craft this final version of the bill. I thank the bill’s prime sponsor Representative Trey Paradee who zealously advocated for Delaware consumers. I would also like to thank Senators Margaret Rose Henry and Brian Pettyjohn who served as the bill’s co-prime sponsors in the Senate. Finally, a debt of gratitude is owed to Senator Brian Bushweller who successfully managed the bill on the floor and guided it to victory.”

The following major changes will be imposed under this law:

    1. Insurance companies may not use an insurance credit score that uses income, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, education, address, zip code, race, ethnic group, religion, marital status or nationality of the consumer as a factor.
    2. The company may not cancel or non-renew a policy based on credit information alone.
    3. They may not take action against a consumer because that person lacks a credit card or lacks credit information
    4. Cannot utilize collection information using medical codes.
    5. Cannot utilize extraordinary life circumstances such as serious illness or injury, death of a spouse or loved one, divorce, and involuntary loss of employment for 3 months or more.
    6. HS 1 for HB 80 continues Delaware’s prohibition on using credit in policy renewals, unless a review request results in lower premiums.
    7. An insurer cannot increase a renewal rate for a personal automobile policy based solely on an insured attaining the age of 75 or older.
    8. An insurer cannot increase rates based upon a change of marital status due to the death of a spouse.

HS 1 for HB 80 has not yet been signed by Governor Carney. It will go into effect in January 2018. Meantime, consumers who have questions about the new law are encouraged to contact the Consumer Services Division at (302) 674-7310 or by email at consumer@state.de.us.

Humbly suggest you can support cultural change at WPD without calling police “lazy” – no need for name calling. Serves an unhelpful narrative about divide between cops and liberals.

  12. anonymous redux says:

    van susteren out at msnbc.

  13. chris says:

Coastal Zone act changes passed Senate. I think only about three no votes. Disappointing! State Chamber wins this battle.

  14. LashLarue says:

WPD, they only get lazy once they get promoted. Then fingers can get pointed and “Do as I say, not as I do/did” becomes the mantra.

More than a few white shirts going to have to go before a culture change comes to fruition.

    Anything else claimed is spin.
