Shared Sacrifice Uber Alles
The JFC voted yesterday to cut Delaware’s investment in the arts by $550,000 (about 20%). The arts are big economic driver and every dollar of state supports leverages up to $9.00 of private support. But Governor Schwartzkopf has said “Fuck it. Those Estate tax cuts aren’t going to pay for themselves.”

Democrats I Like
I get some guff for constantly pooping on Democrats. I don’t care about it that criticism because Democrats, with their apologetic gray goo posing as policy, are fully deserving of being pooped on. However there are a couple of Democrats that I like. Mainly because they seem guided by the values and ideals of the Democratic Party of a bygone age when to be a Democrat meant that you were on the side of the little guy. Memorial Day
We live in a country that indulges in a lot of pomp and celebration around veterans both dead and alive. If you’ve gone to any major league baseball game, or NFL contest in the past ten years you know what I’m talking about. Celebrating veterans and waving the flag is a national pastime. Funding veterans programs, helping combat vets with PTSD…not so much. We like the idea of veterans, not the bum veterans grubbing for services.
