Shared Sacrifice Uber Alles

The JFC voted yesterday to cut Delaware’s investment in the arts by $550,000 (about 20%). The arts are big economic driver and every dollar of state supports leverages up to $9.00 of private support. But Governor Schwartzkopf has said “Fuck it. Those Estate tax cuts aren’t going to pay for themselves.”

Most Dismal Legislative Session Ever?

Filed in Delaware, Featured by on May 31, 2017 44 Comments

By ‘ever’, I mean since 1983, when I first started working for the General Assembly.  I’ve either worked for, or followed what’s going on in Dover ever since. My answer to my question is: Yes, I think so. Go ahead. Pick a highlight. Eliminating the Estate Tax? Bringing back the death penalty? Finding ways to […]

Democrats I Like

I get some guff for constantly pooping on Democrats. I don’t care about it that criticism because Democrats, with their apologetic gray goo posing as policy, are fully deserving of being pooped on. However there are a couple of Democrats that I like. Mainly because they seem guided by the values and ideals of the Democratic Party of a bygone age when to be a Democrat meant that you were on the side of the little guy. This is an incomplete list, but you can help round it out in the comments.

Delaware:

Matt Denn
John Kowalko
Sean Lynn

America:
Keith Ellison
Michael Moore

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

We live in a country that indulges in a lot of pomp and celebration around veterans both dead and alive. If you’ve gone to any major league baseball game, or NFL contest in the past ten years you know what I’m talking about. Celebrating veterans and waving the flag is a national pastime. Funding veterans programs, helping combat vets with PTSD…not so much. We like the idea of veterans, not the bum veterans grubbing for services.

What Happens When You Keep Cutting Education Funds.  Yes, it’s Oklahoma.  But when you blindly cut funds, it leads to this. Are you paying attention, Jellyfish John? Using a formula to cut spending is not a policy, it’s a formula. Same Holds True For Colleges.  A deliberate attempt to put an end to upward mobility? […]

Don’t be silly

If anyone thinks Trump is going to announce that he thinks climate change is real, you need your head examined. Additionally, if you think Jarrod Kushner is going to pay a price for his treason, you really have a screw loose.

Now get out in the fresh air and enjoy this weekend.

Government of the Sick Fucks, by the Sick Fucks, and for the Sick Fucks

The best mark in a con is the kind who doesn’t believe they’ve been conned, even when the con is revealed. Either they are so embarrassed that it’s easier just to double down on the delusion or they’re that fucking stupid. And, in the end, it doesn’t matter because they’ll line up to be fleeced again.
