The speech I wish Pelosi had given

The President lost. Being a loser on something this big should be something he learns from. Losing is no fun, but he lost badly. Like any loser he needs to consider why he lost and try to think about how to not be such a loser who lost. Bottom line: Loser, lost. Loser.

White House lobbying to save Trumpcare broke the law

This is a White House that is too dumb and lazy to give a fuck about whether or not it is breaking laws. On Thursday morning, as the Trump administration frantically tried to save its deeply unpopular Affordable Care Act replacement bill, White House social media director Dan Scavino Jr. tweeted out a message to […]

Time to prep for loud and direct protest of Coons and Carper gutlessness

Today DL contributors will visit the Wilmington office of Senator Chris Coons and hand deliver the letter below. It will be signed by members of the DL direct protest subgroup.

I’m sure we will all be keeping a close eye on Mr Coons’ actions over the next few weeks. If he and Carper lose their nerve (as some reporting suggests they are considering) we must act.

The political action group Network Delaware has stood up a strategic nonviolent organizing committee. Please comment below if you will be willing to take part in some protest action against Coons and/or Carper if they vote for the Gorsuch nomination to progress to the full Senate. – Thanks

Carney Channels Trump’s Mick Mulvaney

Delaware non-profits are on alert as Gov. Carney starts looking at cutting funds for domestic abuse victims. Carney might as well start talking about compassion for Greenville Democrats. Disgusting.

Governor “My Hands are Tied” Carney sticks with Markell’s Budget Rec’s

He toured the state and had coffee klatch after coffee klatch, but (true to form) in the end, there was only one coffee klatch that mattered. Carney’s “shared sacrifice” budget largely parrots the budget fixes left to him by Jack Markell.

Coons pursues a downright horrible deal in the name of “moderation”

Coons pursues a downright horrible deal in the name of “moderation” Politco reports that your representative in the US Senate, Chris Coons, is in talks to cut the worst deal in the history of the Senate, by voting for Cloture on Gorsuch in exchange for a Republican “promise” to not eliminate the filibuster on a future Supreme court nomination.

The deal Democrats would be most likely to pursue, the sources said, would be to allow confirmation of Gorsuch in exchange for a commitment from Republicans not to kill the filibuster for a subsequent vacancy during President Donald Trump’s term.

How does Chris Coons still think that he is NOT dealing with bad actors? He seriously can’t be this guileless. That is only the beginning of how stupid Coons’ plan is, though. This deal is Coons trading something (a yes vote for Gorsuch) for nothing (a promise NOT to do something). It is idiotic on its face.

Carper Wilmington: 302-573-6291

It is times like this that I miss Mike Castle

It is times like this that I miss Mike Castle

Long time readers will remember my ongoing love/hate feelings for Mike Castle. I hated Castle’s down the line GOP voting record, but I loved his crazy rationalizations for why a sincere “moderate” like him needed to cast all of those party line votes.

I’m certain that is Castle was still in the house, he’d be voting with the GOP leadership to pass the bloody abortion known as Trumpcare. Then we’d get the anguished rationalization about how pained he was by having to “vote for this deeply flawed” legislation. It was always as full of pathos, and as cloyingly predictable as a Joel Osteen sermon on why God wants us all to be rich fuckers.

“Shared Sacrifice”. Does that phrase sound familiar?  It is the phrase that Gov. Jack Markell used during the economic crisis of 2008 and beyond.  It meant that all Delawareans would have to share in the pain in order lift Delaware out of the economic recession. It is the exact same phrase that Gov. Carney has […]
