Campaigns don’t start with a three county tour…

Filed in National by on March 31, 2017

They start with a tip to the DL tipline.

A person close to Simpler says that he is NOT running for treasurer in 2018. And that he does plan on running against Carney for governor in 2020.

Also – I’ve heard that if Simpler doesn’t run for Tres. look for Kathy McGuiness to run for that office. Could Ken be so generous as to give Park City a running start? Simpler is rumored to be a big supporter of KMcG and in looking at her facebook page, she’s planning on running for something.
McGuiness

  1. JTF says:

    Ernie Lopez, call your office.

  2. Jason330 says:

    JTF… Sorry. 15% too cryptic.

You don’t mean to suggest that Simpler would primary Lopez? That makes no sense, but neither does Simpler sitting out 2018 when he could use that race to build and strengthen a statewide campaign apparatus.

  3. ben says:

Would he run against carper in 2018?

Last weeks letter to the Cape Gazette from KM.

She voted in favor Rehoboth’s shit pipe. Despite evidence presented to her as to why it was such a bad idea.

  5. SussexWatcher says:

The Lopez remark has nothing to do with Simpler and everything to do with a nasty rumor about which no evidence has ever been made public. Shame, JTF.

Park City is apparently going to follow the route of previous female politicians like Karen Weldin Stewart and Karen Hartley Nagle — keep trying until you run up against a lousy male candidate so you can win with the votes of women who have never heard your name before but recognize a female name on the ballot.

Spare me the whining about misogyny. Many, many women have told me they voted for KWS for just that reason.

As for the nasty rumor, you have no way of knowing if it’s true or not, so spare us the “for shame” horseshit.

  7. SussexWatcher says:

About which no evidence has ever been made public. That’s the key part, Alby. To toss crap like that around when peoples’ lives and kids are involved is despicable. You’d never have condoned that shit at TNJ.

  8. Bane says:

Why step down from an office that you will most likely win again in 18? The last time he was on the ballot was 2014. If he expects to stay off of the ballot and out of the news for 6 years and run against a sitting incumbent, he’s dumber than I thought. Only US Senators can go that long without campaigning; and that’s only because they raise ungodly amounts of money during their off years and they are the incumbents.

Smart move would be to run for Treasurer in 18′, keep your name fresh. Rail against Legislative Hall and the Governor. Win that race against whatever incompetent, boring, Harvard/Yale/UD educated, empty suit that the State Democratic Party rallies behind.

Then ride that wave into 2020 with a seasoned campaign team and far greater name recognition.

  9. chris says:

Agreed. Makes no sense to step down if you want to go in 2020.

  10. Agree. This tip sounds hinky to me.

  11. SussexWatcher says:

Sounds like y’all are getting trolled multiple times.

  12. Alby says:

@SW: True. But shame has nothing to do with it. That’s about liability. Shame, you might have noticed, has long since lost its place in politics.

I just have a thing about high horses. I don’t like it when people parade them.
