“It’s A Shit Sandwich.”

Filed in National by on February 16, 2017

That quote is being attributed to Retired Vice Admiral Robert Harward as his reason for turning down Donald Trump’s offer to head up the National Security Council.  I mean, would YOU want to lead an agency where Steve Bannon (the mind still reels) is feeding intel to whoever he wants to?  In fact, I think this is the operative reason as mentioned in this Washington Post story:

One factor in Harward’s decision was he couldn’t get a guarantee that he could select his own staff, according to a person close to Trump with knowledge of the discussions.

Meaning, Bannon had to stay.

Which led to this tweet from Jake Tapper:

A friend of Harward’s says he was reluctant to take NSA job b/c the WH seems so chaotic; says Harward called the offer a “shit sandwich.”

This can’t last for 48 months. Can it?

When Trump says that the leaks are from “low life’s” I wonder if he knows that the White House staff has been a major source of leaks?

  2. He certainly doesn’t mean WikiLeaks, his BFF leaker allies.

  3. Steve Newton says:

He’s going to last the full term. Barring he gets us into WW3, he becomes increasingly irrelevant and Mike Pence becomes the functional President (ala Woodrow Wilson and Colonel House/Edith Wilson) right after the 2018 elections when nobody wants him to campaign with them.

Awesome that the guy had the guts to turn down the big job.

  5. Alby says:

@Steve: You still don’t get it. That’s what the plan was, but Bannon isn’t having any of that.

He’s this bad after four weeks. What makes you think he’ll last a year? He’ll last only as long as it’s not obvious that he’s dragging them all down to defeat in 2018. It shouldn’t take four years to figure that out.

My thoughts on this demand constant revision. After yesterday’s train wreck of a press conference, I thought, well maybe Alby is right and he isn’t going to last the year. I mean, the Republicans in Congress are seeing this same press conference, right?

But are they? I’m not convinced that the GOP congress doesn’t agree 100% with everything the Republican President said. They all get their “news” from Fox and Freinds. They only talk to each other and like-minded constituents.

I’m all over the place on this.

    Same here.
Reasonable people *should be able to see that, even if you are a Party-First partisan shitstain like McConnell, this cant last. And “it” here refers to human civilization under a drumpf presidency……… but
If Alby’s deep-state shadow government is real (i happen to lean toward, yes it does) that means underground bunkers that will suit rich folk for generations are also real. If we can agree that people like Ryan and McConnell really DONT give a shit about anything other then their Ayn Rand fantasy world, they shouldn’t care too much about wiping 90% of the population and leaving enough people to keep voting them in to power.
Of course if those things ARENT real, these IS NO ONE tending the light at the end of the tunnel and these shit-stain republikklans will just wait for someone else to fix things while it all burns down around us. People who would likely vote them out will be first on the deport/kill list, so what do they care?
