So the question now is will Congress do it’s fucking job and investigate his ass? And while they’re at it will they investigate others in the White House and their connections to Russia, up to and including Trump himself? Or are the congressional Republicans, lead by human-shaped slim mold Jason Chaffetz going to just sit around and do nothing? I know what I’m betting on.

The SCROTUS (So Called Ruler Of The United States) is a Russian Mole. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  3. ben says:

SCROTUS!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it, thank you Dis, I’m adding that to my list of names for mr pigfucker.

  4. jason330 says:

Josh W – Every GOP member of congress is serving at the pleasure of Trump. All he’d have to do to tank any one of them is to string together 4 or 5 angry (though probably incoherent) tweets. Even the most “secure” among them knows it. So, no.

No investigations. No impeachment. No nothing.

  5. Ben says:

So Flynn is actually the second dampnut goon proven to be a Russian spy. ‘member Paul Manafort?

  6. fightingbluehen says:

While dealing with foreign nations after being elected, but before being sworn in, is technically going against protocol, it’s obviously been done before….. Remember Ronald Reagan and the release of American hostages from Iran?

  7. Alby says:

And Nixon sabotaged the Paris Peace Talks in 1968. Starting to notice a pattern there?

The only actual Republican principle is the will to power.

  8. bamboozer says:

“All he’d have to do to tank any one of them is to string together 4 or 5 angry (though probably incoherent) tweets. Even the most “secure” among them knows it.”

Well you don’t say? That was yesterday, just like Nixon the turning away will go slow at first and pick up steam with time. Flynn has reignited the “Putin’s Puppet” meme and it will not go away this time. Short term do nothing, sure, long term with a public opinion gun to your head? That and “safe seat” applies to his highness as well, they know what they can get away with and they also know when to leave the sinking ship.

  9. Ben says:

You mean Reagan bribed terrorists by arming them, to make a president look bad, then took power? Because that is what Reagan did. Why do GOP love traitors so much?

  10. POLITICO today – THE ADMISSION OF GUILT , from Flynn’s resignation letter to Trump: “[B]ecause of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology.” His letter http://politi.co/2lf4Snm

I will forever link this action to Coons’ scold on MSNBC that Flynn was on record as having lied to him.

Thanks for that link Nancy. Coons does a nice job there, although he does seem to really like Rex Tillerson for some unknown reason.

  12. We learn from this WaPo story that the White House was warned that Flynn was subject to Russian blackmail back at the end of January:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/justice-department-warned-white-house-that-flynn-could-be-vulnerable-to-russian-blackmail-officials-say/2017/02/13/fc5dab88-f228-11e6-8d72-263470bf0401_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-banner-main_flynnjustice-0811pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.8fe697d84e48

Guess who warned him. The same Acting AG who said that the Justice Department would not defend Trump’s travel ban in court. Sally Yates. My early vote for Most Valuable Progressive of the Year.

The real story here is that Flynn had to go as a scapegoat b/c continued intransigence would lead to the inevitable and obvious conclusion: Trump and his people have been knee-deep in this Russian shit for a long time.

  13. fightingbluehen says:

Who was listening in on the Russian ambassadors’ phone calls, and leaked the information? ….This is starting to play out like a MAD Magazine, Spy vs. Spy comic strip….lol.

It’s actually not that funny when you think about it….I guess the Russians will now need to beef up their Diplomat’s communication security, now that they know we can hack them.

BREAKING: Russian spy ship spotted 75 miles off Delaware coast.

  14. Ben says:

It’s not technically spying is the president gives you all the info you want.

    Also, Dampnut-fanboy logic…
Leaking emails involving communication between Clinton and another democrat = Patriotic
revealing the Leaking of state secrets and promising quid-pro-quo for elections tampering =
    funny.

  15. fightingbluehen says:

Someone was listening in on a Russian diplomat, either the CIA or NSA or somebody from our government, right?

Why would you leak that information? Was it so important to expose this Flynn guy and embarrass the Trump administration at the expense of compromising national security?

  16. fightingbluehen says:

We had a good tap on the Russian’s communications, or at least the Russian Ambassador….Now we don’t, right?

  17. Alby says:

“Who was listening in on the Russian ambassadors’ phone calls, and leaked the information?”

    The NSA.

“We had a good tap on the Russian’s communications, or at least the Russian Ambassador….Now we don’t, right?”

And they had a guy in the situation room. We traded a pawn for a rook, you nimwit.

  18. Alby says:

What did Trump know and when did he know it?

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-michael-flynn-flames_us_58a29e1ee4b0ab2d2b187775?5povn5ulgmu6jemi&

I suppose catching the burglars in the hotel was just “one little victory,” too.

Trump might have the FBI, but the permanent government is not without its resources, and they are far deeper than the FBI’s, which draws mainly upon America’s incompetent law enforcement structure.

  19. fightingbluehen says:

When did Obama know, and when did he authorize compromising the fact that we were listening to the phone calls of the Russian Ambassador?

  20. jason330 says:

I’m sure we all agree, as Americans, that our government should be spying on our enemies. We all agree on that much, right?

  21. Alby says:

Dude, we spy on everybody, all the time. He knew as soon as the intelligence chiefs sat him down for a chat. That chat — which I doubt they have held with Trump, whom they consider an enemy agent — was held In a more secure location than the Mar-a-Lago dining room on Saturday night, too.

You’re going to have problems at the smart kids’ table.

  22. Ben says:

FBH is more loyal to Putin than America…. just like any good drumpernut.

  23. Alby says:

This story gets better by the hour.

As Josh Marshall points out at TPM, “only three or four hours before Flynn resigned, the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Devin Nunes, said there was no problem and it was just the President’s enemies (“the swamp” in his words) making trouble. “It just seems like there’s a lot of nothing here,” Nunes told Bloomberg’s Steven Dennis.

So today Nunes announced that he won’t investigate because of “executive privilege,” which is of course what presidents invoke, not what Congress grants. Could it have anything to do with the fact that Nunes was on Trump’s transition team?

    http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/2/14/1633641/-House-intelligence-chair-rolls-over-for-Trump-rules-out-investigating-Russia-connections

  24. fightingbluehen says:

“I’m sure we all agree, as Americans, that our government should be spying on our enemies. We all agree on that much, right?”

Exactly, and doesn’t it compromise our work when the Russians are alerted that we are listening to one of their diplomats. I’m sure they know that we try, but did they actually know that the Ambassador was being listened to….They do now, right?

  25. jason330 says:

That bit of nonsense has already been dispatched.

  26. Ben says:

I think i figured it out. FBH was pretty silent in the lead up to the coup.. er um, “election”. Now their hackles are all up and it seems bad for the Orange Shit. IS it possible that FBH is another Bannon/Putin agent who is sent to barf nonsense when things are going really poorly for the GOkkkP?

  27. Alby says:

Dude, read the links. Both sides record these conversations and produce transcripts; apparently Flynn was unaware of that. The Russians as well as the Americans knew he was lying about it publicly, both sides knew the Russians had their kompromat, information that they could leak to ruin him. The only way to counter blackmail is to release the information yourself, as some plaintiffs in suits against attempted blackmailers have demonstrated.

The leak of this information from the American end removed the threat of a compromised Flynn continuing in a sensitive role. But that turns the spotlight to Trump, who apparently was told of this by Yates before her firing. That means the president knew for two weeks that Flynn was compromised but did nothing about it — perhaps not surprising given the shocking scene at Mar-a-Lago Saturday night.

    Do try to keep up.

Trump is just doing what he always does in trying to distract the press by focusing on the leak, which is, as they say, his problem, not ours.

  28. Ben says:

I cannot wait to find out what the Reds have on Lord Dampnut himself. Not to kink-shame, but I bet it makes golden showers look like a light spanking on Valentine’s day.

    Top guesses
    1) he’s poor.
    2) none of his kids are his
    3) Melania is actually a deep cover Russian operative who’s mission was to find a willing dupe and see how much power they could get…. (what, you dont think she can do that? sexist)
    4) He is Andy Cohen and is in too deep now.

  29. liberalgeek says:

That means the president knew for two weeks that Flynn was compromised but did nothing about it — perhaps not surprising given the shocking scene at Mar-a-Lago Saturday night.

I think it’s worse than that. He has been getting the PDP since then. Perhaps that’s why the intel community had started filtering out the data that they sent to the White House in the past few weeks. It really appears that everyone was behaving as if there was a spy in the White House except for Trump.

  30. Alby says:

Good luck to them silencing the impeachment chatter now.

  31. puck says:

Remember back when everybody conceded Republicans were stronger on national security?

  32. mediawatch says:

In the realm of dumber than dumb, having served as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, how in hell could Flynn not have known that our guys routinely attempt to intercept the Russian ambassador’s communications?
Or did he think they would hang up as soon as he said, “Ambassador, this is Mike Flynn here”?
