John Carney Wants your thoughts on his imminent budget cuts & Carney Accountability Campaign (CAC) update

Filed in National by on February 13, 2017

Carney has already said that raising taxes on the wealthiest corporations (that have hoarded all the economic gains of the past 25 years) is “off the table” so this listening tour is to get your thoughts on who Delaware should fuck over. Public Schools, teachers, parks, the incarcerated, the elderly, state employees? Show up at one of these and tell Carney who you think should be screwed.

Community Conversations

Governor Carney will join members of the General Assembly – Democrats and Republicans – at their constituent coffees and town hall events to discuss Delaware’s budget challenges and listen to ideas from members of the public.

8:00 a.m. – February 21 – Drip Café, Hockessin, with Senator Greg Lavelle

9:00 a.m. – February 22 – Downtown Dover Partnership, Dover, with Senator Brian Bushweller

February 22 – TELE-TOWN HALL

9:00 a.m. – March 1 – Nanticoke Senior Center, Seaford, with Representative Daniel Short

8:00 a.m. – April 5 – Café Gelato, Newark, with Representative Paul Baumbach

*We will follow up with details and additional dates as more Conversations are added.

If you can’t make one of these meetings, here is a form you can use to send in your thoughs on who should be screwed so Carney can ensure his Chamber buddies don’t have to pay their fair share.

And if you can’t do either of those, at least pledge $25 toward helping hold Carney accountable for his conservative, right wing economic polices. Our goal this week (and for each of the the next 52 weeks) is to add THREE more people to pledge money toward helping fund a primary challenger to John Carney unless he veers away from his stated goal of balancing the state budget on the backs of working families.

If you have already pledged, help find other like minded people in your circle who think Carney’s plans to cut services while lavishing tax breaks on our wealthiest corporations is despicable. Let them know that their card will not be charged unless a legitimate primary candidate is found, and that their pledge will help John Carney clarfy his thinking about who he is actually supposed to be working for.

Did you notice how carefully selected those locations are?

    I know.

Is Downtown Dover Partnership a place? They seem to have offices at 101 Loockerman, but is that where this is? Do you need to know a password or secret handshake?

Aurochs – If you haven’t done so yet, kick in your $25.00 toward holding Carney accountable. Adding your name to the lists of people who thinks Carey’s plans to slash the taxes of his biggest campaign donors will be a thumb in the eye of this nonsense AND it will get us 33% of the way toward meeting our membership goal this week.

…or maybe you think Delaware’s working families have it too good, and multinational corporations need our charity?

Another public budget reset meeting has been added. The schedule has not been updated on, but I got the email from Kim Williams:

Feb. 23 8:00am – Crossroads Restaurant, with Gov. Carney, Rep. Kim Williams, Sen. Jack Walsh, and Councilman Ken Woods.

I also got a letter from Red Clay alerting parents to this meeting, and pointing out that education budget cuts were on the line, and also HS 1, Kim Williams’s bill for K-3 special ed funding.
