10am 7th & Shipley. It is a Planned Parenthood clinic, but that’s incidental. Anti choice zealots selected the time & place. We need to demonstrate for women’s rights. And to resist in general this dark dangerous mess. Everywhere you can. Whenever you can.

  2. Paula says:

I’ll be at 7th & Shipley with my sparkly sign to fend off the darkness. Knowing me (and I should, I’m me), I’ll be a little late.

I have decided to formally endorse Keith Ellison for Chair of the DNC (Keith for DNC). The Democratic Party can no longer support the status-quo of passive resistance while offering no help to the average American and the downtrodden. The current party leadership failed to support almost all of Senator Sander’s and the progressive proposals that would have combatted the corporate greed and insensitivity of the wealthy towards the plight of the middle class. The current party leadership has consistently displayed an unwillingness to separate itself from the well-heeled special interests and corporate banking interests that are responsible for the instability in the economy and could lead a disastrous return to financial failures which will further hurt the working class and America’s stature. This appearance and reality of subservience by the current Democratic leadership to the dictatorial ambitions of the Trump Administration can only result in a total and unconditional surrender of civil rights and a furtherance of intolerance, hatred, and bigotry. Congressman Ellison is the right person at the right time to lead our party to a revitalization of its moral obligations. I urge you all to support him.

    Respectfully,

State Representative John Kowalko (25th District)

  5. Elaine Smith says:

Watch this. The words we use matter. “Protections” not “regulations” and much more– can we persuade Trump voters? Our Congress is undoing our protections while we are diverted by Ivanka and Kellyanne.

  6. Disappointed says:

The GOP controls both legislative chambers in 32 states. They only need 1 more to call a Constitutional Convention to create amendments to the Constitution. Then they only need 5 more (38 states) to ratify them.

The loss of the Presidential election in 2016 was the culmination of 8 years of continuous catastrophic Democratic losses under Obama and his hand-picked DNC. That is the horror of his legacy. I don’t know if we’re going to be able to dig out.

  7. Aurochs says:

Disappointed: That’s pretty alarmist and also incorrect. 2/3 of 50 is 33 and 1/3, which means 33 states is insufficient to call a Constitutional Convention. They would need 2 more (34). And looking at the map and the makeup of the legislatures, that doesn’t appear to be an easy task. The only two they have a remote possibility of pulling in the near future are ME and AK. That would give them enough to hold a convention, but whatever amendment they propose would almost surely fail to secure the support of an additional four states.

  8. puck says:

@Aurochs: this is much too close for comfort and not at all alarmist. This is why Delaware’s SD-10 race is attracting national attention.

  9. Jason330 says:

It isn’t about a constitutional convention it is about voter suppression and ALEC inspired legislation. One statehouse in GOP hands is too many.

  10. Aurochs says:

Yes, I would definitely be far more worried about the corrosive voter suppression tactics that GOP-controlled statehouses like to champion than some far-fetched Constitutional Convention.
