I see what this ModernProgressive anonymous internet generator is doing. I think I appreciate it. It’s far too ironic & clever for my tastes. But I understand it and agree with it’s underlying themes.

I say well done. Also I do think this is the proper audience for it. Whether it’s taken truly to heart I don’t know.

In the spirit of the last little fiction draft posted here by yours truly (via Jason330) I say this. Although this is likely an emergency situation I think we need the others to come to it in their own time.

In the meanwhile, maybe we all should try, as much as a modern progressive is able, to ignore smug celebrities doing comedy sketches. Like neither laugh nor cry. It’s not productive. Wasn’t before. Still isn’t.

I mean I’m still going watch Bill Maher, but I’m not going to talk about it.

    Something like that?

If you think Democrats are in denial about Trump, you should talk to Republicans, the ones some people think are “moderate” because they don’t burn crosses.

A year ago they hated Trump just as much as everybody else. But at this point Democrats are only in denial about how bad it will be. These Republicans — people who could list every reason to despise Trump a year ago — now think that he’ll be GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY!

What’s very, very frightening to me is hearing these people, who are not the mouthbreathing moran contingent, repeating the propaganda phrases of the right, and I don’t think they even realize it.

We are in deep, deep trouble, and the only person who frequents this site who seems to realize it is history professor Steve Newton.

Republican Trump Love is far from universal, the first person I heard talking impeachment was a Republican. Suspect more than a few are in “just make the best of it” mode and putting on the proverbial happy face. Are we in danger? Sure, Trump’s totally unfit for the job and arguably his cabinet is a rogue’s gallery of evil. On top of that the same Republicans that made the Bush regime so memorable are largely still in place and still hell bent on destruction. Feel free to panic, I’ve seen too many previous Republican administrations to think they’ll get what they want or do whatever they like. At some point the American people will wake up and raise hell, just like usual.
