My Valedictory.

Filed in National by on January 4, 2017

Well, Jason could not be any more clear. So I will leave Delaware Liberal and let you have fun. Thank you for all the time we have spent together. I will be still involved in Delaware blogging by setting up the Delaware Vote Project on my own, or perhaps with one or two others. Goodbye.

I really wanted to get some work done today

  2. Bane says:

How hard is it to just write a post… whatever post you want, supporting whoever you want…. And then except that someone else will do the same.

Why do you people have to get along with each other as a prerequisite to continuing to write posts? You write the post from your laptop, and then you go eat dinner with your family. Why are contributors even talking to each other? Isn’t the point to write to the audience?

The Real problems with this site have little to do with how you people feel about each other. I don’t care if Cassandra can’t be in a room with El Som without trying to suplex him. What I do care about is the fact that there was a huge drop in state and local coverage but a huge increase in my knowledge of what El Soms favorite songs are… (wtf was that crap about?)

I don’t care whiCh person supported Bernie or Hillary. I care that DL hasn’t covered the transition choices of three governments over the last 2 months.

Nobody cared how well the Beatles got along, as long as it didn’t effect music. Because that’s what it’s all about… the music.

  3. AQC says:

Everybody, take your toys and go home 🙂

    This all day long.

Hey Jude, The Beatles were getting paid. And even though money can’t buy me love, love can get me in the yellow submarine even when I don’t feel like it. It’s been a hard day’s night.

    Well said!!!!!!!! Amen!!

  7. Jason330 says:

Seems like you guys have identified a real business opportunity.

  8. John says:

I guess it’s safe to assume Delaware Dem gets the Facebook page in the split? https://www.facebook.com/Delavote/?fref=ts

  9. Jason330 says:

Del Dem built out all of that so it is his. And for what its worth, I’m not mad at him or anyone. He wanted to leave so, like El Somanbulo, he left. I imagine that if I keep blogging, I’ll be linking to him a lot.

But this reminds me…. Anyone know anything about facebook? I hear it is good for finding people who owe you money, but I don;t know how to link a blog to it. If anyone does the job pays $0.00, and the benefits are all imaginary. I mean intangible. Also, I’m not sure there will be a blog to link to in a couple of weeks (days?) so you’ll have to be cool with uncertainty.

  10. BellefonteRoss says:

It looks like you’re running WordPress here, so theoretically you probably have a plugin installed that was auto posting the new articles to a particular Facebook page. You’d just need to create a new DelawareLiberal facebook page, and plug in whatever info the plugin that’s doing the syncing requires. Shouldn’t be too difficult.

  11. Delaware Dem says:

Jason, tell El Som that he can come back now if he wants to unretire. I was the reason for his leaving. Now that the site is under your direction, he might be enticed into returning.

John, Jason is right. Essentially, this divorce is over creative and irreconcilable differences over the direction of the site. But he is still a friend and after the dust settles, we will still be playing poker and having a drink. I wish everyone here well.

  12. mikem2784 says:

I feel like mommy and daddy are busy fighting over who should call the police while a crazy serial killer is breaking into the house…

  13. mikem2784 says:

I’ve been a reader / commenter on here for most of the life of this blog and I hate to see it go like this. So we don’t always agree…so what? That’s the whole point of a blog is for there to be open discussion. Now is the time when that sort of thing is necessary, now more than ever. It is going to be a rough four years nationally and there is still work to be done at the state level. We need to stop with the valedictory shit…it looks too much like a white flag. I appreciate that it is hard and pays zero, but the lack of local media and complacency of the mainstream media makes this type of thing all the more important right now. I hope those leaving reconsider.

  14. Gymrat says:

As regards DD Bill Maher nailed it “Whiney little bitch’ with apologies to the cheeto:)

  15. Jason330 says:

I don’t think so. When I said that the stridency of the contributors and commenters had become off-putting, I include myself among the guilty.

In addition to being informative, a blog’s content and comments need to be fun to read. This blog hasn’t been. My contributions haven’t been anyway.

  16. liberalgeek says:

Personally, I’ll never forgive DD for the title of his last post ending in a period. We don’t punctuate titles. oy.

  17. Disappointed says:

Thanks, DelDem, for all your work here. It was a lot of work, too. And even though you banned me for being a purist Ob*mba critic, I always respected the work you did here.

    Good luck, and keep fighting.

  18. Aurochs says:

Jesus Christ people, all this drama. What is this, a blog?

  19. Mitch Crane says:

Thank you Del Dem for your excellent blogging during the last election season. I looked forward every day to what you reported.
