The Walking Dead Tonight!

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on October 23, 2016

Yeah, you either love it or hate it. I love it – a show I started watching three years ago when I was looking for something to do with my 19 year old son in the dead of winter. Anyway… I’m hooked.

Season 7 starts tonight. It airs at the same time as Westworld (HBO’s new series), which we are also watching, but given we find out tonight who Negan killed we’ll be watching TWD when it airs – because the internet spoils everything!

So who met up with Lucille? I’m thinking Abraham. I’m going with him because 1) He was hopeful – kiss of death in TWD – for his relationship with Sasha. 2) He’s not Glenn or Daryl – two huge fan favorites. Which shouldn’t matter, but I fear it does.

Rick’s safe. So is Carl (mainly because I’m not sure Rick could mentally survive that, so Carl lives). That leaves: Daryl, Michonne, Glenn, Abraham, Sasha, Eugene, Aaron, Rosita and Maggie. I’m removing the women since killing a women doesn’t seem in line with Negan’s character. Not saying he won’t kill women, just that he’s making a point with this move. He’s showing strength, so killing a woman or a teenage boy wouldn’t convey that. I’d put Eugene in that category, as well, but killing him would be emotional, so if not Abraham… then Eugene? Aaron? I love his character, but I honestly forgot he was with our group, and I think Negan kills one of Rick’s group.

Thoughts? Are you watching tonight?

Anyone watching Westworld? I’m trying to figure out where that show is heading, but with it starring Anthony Hopkins and Ed Harris I’m not sure I care. Both are amazing actors!

SPOILER ALERT: In the comics, the victim is Glenn. BUT.. the series has not been following the comics on every detail. For example, in the Comics, the Governor cut off Rick’s hand. Didn’t happen in the show. The Governor killed Lori and the baby Judith. In the show, Lori died in childbirth and the baby is still alive. In the comics, Andrea and Rick become a couple, and she is still alive. In the show, she is dead and Rick is with Michonne. In the comics, Merle and Darryl never existed. In the comics, Dale lives much longer. In the comics, Carol is not a badass woman. I could go on.

I am trying to watch Westworld. I am still watching. But I give up on shows when they start to bore me and are too complicated. For example, I just gave up on Mr. Robot in the second season because it was incredibly hard to follow.

LOL at DD: SPOILER ALERT: Spoil.

  4. Delaware Dem says:

I spoiled the comic not the show. And hence the alert.

I think it will be Michonne. Rick sealed her fate when they were presented with a pair of zombies with things that Negan had taken from Daryl and Michone (a vest and a braid). Rick took the braid and looked at it in a way that would encourage Negan to kill her for maximum effect. Plus, if you are in love, one of you must die (this could also be Glenn). That’s how it works in the zombie apocalypse.

Also, how the hell else would Michonne die? She is a total bad-ass. She won’t die until it is literally the only option, as it is here.

    Nooooooo, LG! She’s my favorite.

I think it’s Glenn. I really don’t want to watch tonight because I have better things to do and a DVR, and since someone is toast, I would undoubtedly encounter that information before I watch the show. I resent being forced to alter my schedule, so I’m probably not going to watch and just live with the foreknowledge of Glenn’s departure.

Further, I’m annoyed that they got themselves in that situation in the first place. They should have let Carol (who was not thinking about the group when she bailed) go and left her to her own devices.

Once they start doing stupid things in the interest of furthering the plot I start losing interest because it becomes formulated like all the B scary movies, where you can predict who is going to die in what order with what instrument (sort of like a horror movie game of Clue). WD has two strikes with me. One more and it’s toast.

    Please be Glenn

  9. Jason330 says:

I agree with all Dave said. At this point in the apocalypse the stupidity of the group shatters the verisimilitude.

  10. nemski says:

I love it when people complain about The Walking Dead acting like a B movie, since, umm, it is a B movie.

  11. pandora says:

Exactly, nemski! If you have a problem with TWD, then you had a problem season one – you know, when everyone constantly went off on their own despite… zombies!

  12. Delaware Dem says:

Verisimilitude!!!! Wow. Jason is using his Word of the Day calendar.

    noun
the appearance of being true or real.
“the detail gives the novel some verisimilitude”
synonyms: realism, believability, plausibility, authenticity, credibility, lifelikeness
“the verisimilitude of her performance is gripping”

  13. Jason330 says:

There are good B movies and bad B movies. I get that it is fantasy but the drama depends on their being some internal logic to what the survivors are doing. When the characters don’t appear to be learning it sinks below the level of good B movie.

  14. Why is everyone assuming it is going to be just one person? Apparently they filmed the “death” scene with every single character. In case it got spoiled. Having read the comic as well, I am morbidly curious if they will depict the death, no matter who it is, the same WAY they did in the comic. Will they go that far on basic cable?

No matter who gets Lucilled, it won’t be pretty. This is the one scene I’ve actually been dreading for a long time now because of HOW violent it is.

  15. Jason330 says:

    That was revolting.

  16. pandora says:

    Wait… you watched?

  17. liberalgeek says:

I can’t think of a cast that has kept so much secret so perfectly.

  18. Liberal Elite says:

    Where have I been?
…never heard of this show. What’s the basic premise?

  19. pandora says:

Zombie apocalypse – but really about humanity and survival. And ethics and morality. It reminds me a bit of Dexter.

If you watch, start at the beginning. Your views will grow and change with the characters.

And, may I say, that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was amazing in last night’s episode.
