  1. Jason330 says:

Kaine needs to smile and not be bitchy. Pence needs to not fall off the stage.

  2. Liberal Elite says:

The GOP pulled down their webpage explaining, in some detail, why Pence won the debate.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/gop-website-announces-mike-pence-debate-winnerbefore-debate/story?id=42570234

Now we can all see how completely FOS that whole operation really is.

Pence could fall of the stage, and they’d still say that he won.

  3. puck says:

If I didn’t understand English I’d say Pence is making a better impression.

  4. cassandra_m says:

I don’t know how long I can take Pence’s bullshit. He just spins up all of this talk show crap.

  5. Paula says:

I just tuned in. The two of them look like cousins.

  6. Paula says:

Or maybe all white guys look alike.

  7. cassandra_m says:

    That’s the excuse I use.

  8. ex-anonymous says:

i think kaine should chill a little. i wish pence would be kidnaped by aliens and never come this way again.

  9. cassandra_m says:

I’m liking Tim Kaine occupying all of the corners here.

  10. Paula says:

I had to turn the sound down, so I’m just watching and reading you guys. The way HRC’s voice grates other people, these smooth-talking tones grate on me.

  11. MikeM2784 says:

If Americans had to choose between these two, I think they’d vote to take a nap.

  12. cassandra_m says:

Law enforcement has more than enough tools. And why the Feds need to fund local police needs, I’ll never know.

  13. MikeM2784 says:

Perhaps fund mandatory training to deal with bias.

  14. cassandra_m says:

There’s way more people who are here legally inflicting plenty of tragedy on people.

He dodged the answer on how people will be removed from the country.

  15. Jason330 says:

I’m with Paula can’t take the empty drone coming from Pence.

  16. cassandra_m says:

Not crazy about the Pence drone, but Kaine is not giving an inch on this talk radio bullshit.

  17. puck says:

We forget that this is what politicians sound like. We have been spoiled by the intelligent and on-point discourse from Obama, from Bill Clinton, and even Hillary.

  18. Paula says:

Live Facebook feed from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at the North Shore Animal League — image of cats playing in a pen with a TV in the background. Much easier to deal with this way.

  19. cassandra_m says:

So Pence didn’t defend Trump here, right? Just kept saying that Trump didn’t say any of this stuff.

  20. pandora says:

The commercials will write themselves. Pence denying Trump said things followed by video of Trump saying those things.

  21. chris says:

Pence was a cool customer. Kaine kept interrupting and was very annoying, Kaine was also over prepared and not loose. The moderator had no control of this thing. Pence helped himself. He worked it hard with the GOP party folks on the pro- life issue. He will pull all the Ted Cruz supporters in the party now,

  22. Liberal Elite says:

@c ” He will pull all the Ted Cruz supporters in the party now,”

    They were already there.

The most telling thing is that the prediction markets have failed to move at all for Trump. In fact, his prediction market value just lost about 5% of its value sometime during the debate. That’s not much, but it makes a liar of anyone claiming a big win for Pence.

I suspect that the reason for the drop in Trump’s betting numbers reflects a lost opportunity to change the race, and Trump is simply running out of such opportunities.

  23. Falcor says:

Pence did a decent job of attacking Hillary’s foreign policy.

If the Republicans hadn’t elected guy who literally can’t go 5 minutes without saying something outrageously stupid they’d probably be beating Clinton. The problem is that most of the attacks Pence could have used would be directly refuted by idiotic things Trump has said. His budget is fiscal Armageddon, he’s a 2nd Amendment”supporter” who wants to randomly stop and frisk people, he’s lost on foreign policy and cozying up to the Russians, and he’s completely ceded the personal accountability high ground with the combo of tax returns/Trump Foundation craziness. It’s like Christine O’Donnell on the National level, complete with stiffing people who you owe money to.

She’s pretty vulnerable on Iraq (even though the SOFA wasn’t her fault), Russian aggression, the Iran deal, and the Arab Spring.

Either way, I don’t see this changing the race. Tim Kaine didn’t disqualify himself, Pence was handcuffed by the top of the ticket on most of his attacks and even if he hadn’t been he is not the type of guy who is going to pull in independent/3rd party voters. He shored up a base that was already shored up. Maybe they’ll win Alabama by 22 points instead of 19 now or something.

  24. Point of Order says:

Can we all give up the notion that moderators can control the participants? When they do, we complain they don’t let us hear the participants. When they don’t, we complain they have no control.

Maybe we should ring a bell and let them spar, go at it in three minute bouts with a break for a new question. Which is what we got last night.

  25. Jason330 says:

Falcor, I didn’t watch. And I didn’t realize it at the time, but I didn’t watch because I was waiting to read your 12:40 am summary comment. Thanks!

  26. Stilwell says:

Jason…..you must be overjoyed to see a butterface goblin reaching so high.

Peace to you bro! Keep hope alive!!!!

  27. Jason330 says:

Wa alaikum assalaam, to you as well.
