Firefighter

Firefighter Christopher Leach, 41, (left), 1994 Graduate of Salesianum High School, killed in the line of duty today in the Canby Park fire. Firefighter Jerry Fickes, 51, (right) also killed in the line of duty in the same fire.

Rest in peace, heros.

Makes you stop and think about what’s really important

  2. Dana Garrett says:

Very very tragic. How sad. All my condolences to their friends and families.

  3. Dorian Gray says:

Many people were out and about this weekend as the early autumn weather was very pleasant. The mood in the neighborhood, however, was somber and subdued. That this is a terrible tragedy is obvious, but I wanted to at least post something to say that the entire city is united behind WFD. These guys gave their lives for our safety and security. I hope that the great sadness and grief felt by the families, friends and colleagues of Lt. Leach and Sr. Firefighter Fickes is someday assuaged by great pride. They’ll be held in high esteem always.

  4. BPA says:

Very tragic day for everyone and 6 families hurting: the Leach and Fickes families, the homeowner and their family, the Wilmington Fire Department and Salesian Familes and the greater Delaware family.

I personally had the honor of knowing Lt. Chris Leach, as a Salesian graduate myself. His life, energy, enthusiasm and dedication will be greatly missed by all.

    My heartfelt condolences to everyone.
