The 9th sat out last night’s primary

Filed in National by on September 14, 2016

My takeaway from the Johns/Griffiths result is that the 9th was largely ignored by the marquee races and the lack of effort by the well moneyed campaigns (eg. no house meetings, no neighborhood association meetings, no door knocking, etc.) left the 9th to stay in and watch The Big Brother Finale (or whatever it is you people watch on Tuesday).

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 9

RICHARD GRIFFITHS 564 39.08 %
MONIQUE JOHNS 879 60.92 %

1,443 votes? That is pitiful.

  1. I think that Lisa had some coattails that helped Monique Johns as well.

    LBR: 637
    Townsend: 434
    Barney: 274

Plus, by most accounts, Griffiths was a horrible candidate and Monique worked at it. Johns earned the win.

You’re right about the vote total, though. But a lot of D’s vote R in this district.

I guess we’ll see how Johns does on her fundraising. At this point, she’s paying $50/day because she hasn’t filed her 8-day report. I can’t see that she has any contributors either. Weird.

Actually, this is weird also… Monique Johns had a fundraiser that raised $3,565 (a fish fry) and no one contributed more than $100. Her 30 day report is a bit of a mess.

  4. Yeah, don’t think Hensley is working up much of a sweat.
