I first heard the term alt-right just this summer, and right away I thought I knew what it meant. I looked it up on wikipedia, and was surprised that it was defined as a new thing having something to do with Trump and Breitbart. But as far as I’m concerned alt right is much older and goes back at least as far as:
– Joe McCarthy waving a paper that supposedly had the names of Communists in the State Department;
– Reagan’s bogus welfare queen anecdotes;
– The Arkansas Project and the very real VRWC;
– Swiftboating;
– Birtherism and all the various bogus delegitimizing claims against Obama;
Agenda 21;
These are the things that the extreme right thinks are the secret truth that the mainstream media is keeping from us. Trump is apparently an uncritical consumer of this garbage.

The firetruck story is legit. It happened up in NY. and the local Board of Fire Commisioners told them to remove them.
Because:
a) The Board felt it was a “liability during normal operations for our people and other motorists,”
b) No one was consulted about mounting the flags.
A compromise meeting was supposed to take place.
