Hey, Daniello did something good!

Daniello.Copeland

While this blog has been at odds with the State Party Chairman, John Daniello, for much of our existence (i.e. since 2004 or so), we have to give credit where credit is due. So good on Chairman Daniello for sending the below letter to Donald Trump…er ah, I mean Charlie Copeland, the Chairman of the Delaware Republican Party.

Good job.

Good stuff. However, I seriously doubt Copeland will respond. Trump has exposed the fact that Copeland is a full blown coward.

Maybe that was what motivated Daniello to write that? Knowing that it would further expose Copeland’s cowardice.

That’s some fine concern trolling there.

Copeland throwing in with the crazies makes no sense I can see. They don’t have any money. That’s why the Delaware GOP died — its donors are moderate, its base has no money. The donors won’t fund the crazies; the crazies won’t vote for the moderates.

I’ve known him for years, and he’s not one of the crazies, no matter what he says in public. So why’s he doing this? Maybe so they’ll toss him out of a thankless job?

  3. Jason330 says:

Suicide by cop? That’s a charitable take.

  4. puck says:

“he’s not one of the crazies, no matter what he says in public. ”

What’s the difference? The only thing the public cares about is what he commits to publicly.

  5. anonymous says:

To the public, no difference at all. I’m just saying that either his support of Trump is phony, or he’s not the guy I once knew.

Charlie did not used to be this big an idiot, although his folks were pretty stupid about managing their affairs (his dad managed to lose the largest personal fortune in American history to date in the 60s which forced his grandfather’s bailout and resignation as duPont co. Chief) Charlie’s not much better about money management and his Trump backing shows he’s susceptible to being conned just like most of this charlatan’s victims. (Word around town is copeland recently got fleeced for a big chunk of change by a local developer who not only snookered Charlie but raided the piggy banks of his own, the developer’s, family members.) So appealing to common sense might not be Daniello’s best bet. Charlie has not shown a lot of street smarts. But he is vain and he does have delusions of being to the manor born. Association with low life’s rabble like Trump supporters may be more than an ersatz patrician like copeland can manage. Although extreme right wing views are grimly tolerated by the chateau country crowd Charlie hangs with and soaks for contributions, most of those who have educated pretensions lean left , at least on social issues if not economic policies. And mixing with red neck Walmart shoppers is definitely out of bounds. Charlie, who are these friends of your’s?

  7. anonymous says:

Bev: Heard the same story about the developer.

  8. kavips says:

Ha, ha… Charlie now has no choice but to kowtow to Daniello’s challenge and refute Trump and thereby admit, he, Charlie Copeland, made “another” bad decision….

Go ahead, Charlie… say it…. “The Democrats were right to persuade me to not endorse Donald Trump for President. As with most issues applying to the state of Delaware, they were right, and I was wrong…”

  9. SussexWatcher says:

These types of letters and statements where one party chairman or ED calls on the other side to do X are just posturing – empty words in hope the media will pick up on it and create a story. It doesn’t actually mean a thing. Worthless wastes of time.

  10. anonymous says:

@SW: Did you read it? Do you really think John Daniello could read it aloud?

  11. SussexWatcher says:

    What?

  12. nemski says:

To parphrase a cliche, “A broken calendar is right once a year.”

  13. beverlyc says:

Like most Republicans, Charlie’s caught between the proverbial rock and hard place: If he takes Daniello’s advice and dumps Trump, he’s kowtowing to his political rivals. If he sticks with Drumpf, he’s branded as a misogenist, racist buffoon. And who backed the GOP into this neat little corner? Why that clever, swarthy chess player, Barack Hussein Obama, the socialist, Muslim from Kenya they all love to hate. The guy’s a damn genius. He’s managed to get the GOP to destroy itself by homicide and suicide. It could only be more dead if you drove a stake of holly through its heart. Only 25% of millennials identify as Republicans. It’s the party of the soon to be dead white people. Charlie included. Sure, his cousins will still write him checks to run for stuff, but he can’t carry the water for the state GOP any more than Mike Castle could carry it when Christine O’Donnell unmasked him as the pet pooch of the plutocrats in the past election.

  14. Jason330 says:

Someone with the math/statistics chops could figure out how many Trump voters will cloak between now and Election Day. That would be an interesting number to know.

Lol! That was a good one! If only it were true.
