Memories

Remember way back last August when it was reported that Bill Clinton flattered and cajoled Trump into running for the GOP nomination?

Man oh man, I was happy and excited at first because Trump was certain to turn the GOP nominating process into a train wreck wrapped in a clown show. Then, after he inexplicably WON the nomination I was nervous because I thought Trump, with all his showmanship, might be tough to beat. Now I’m back to being happy and excited. Trump.Kelly

@j “I’m back to being happy and excited.”

    That’s wrong…

Today’s NYTimes editorial gets it right.

jason, as one who shared your initial assessment I understand this thought process.

Part of me wants to believe that the imminent disintegration of the Trump candidacy could be the most exciting opportunity to turn the shell of the Libertarian Party into the second major political party.

But on other days I do realize that in the last 100 or so days–particularly with Secretary Clinton being such a flawed candidate–anything could still happen.

Can somebody double-check me on this? I think NBC/Comcast (Cabletown) is carrying the ball for Trump in this election. Check out this alleged “news” story:

I’ve noticed that most media outlets are now trying to chase sham objectivity and recalibrate as “neutral” after bunch of self inflicted wound stories about Trump. It is a joke. They’ll be struggling to pretend that they are objective be running some bogus shit about Clinton.

  5. anonymous says:

This isn’t about sham objectivity. The lede:

“After an off-message week, Donald Trump finally hit his stride Friday afternoon, spending nearly the entirety of his hour long remarks attacking Hillary Clinton and predicting “destruction of this country from within” should she win in November.”

    That’s cheerleading.

    “anything could still happen”

There are a 100 days left. A lifetime in a news cycle that desperate for something resembling news coupled with drama. If Trump is down for the count at this point then Clinton could mail it in. So the media must resurrect Trump to ensure sufficient suspense.

Regardless when a respected CIA officer and former deputy director of the CIA says Putin has used skills from his past as an intelligence officer to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in Trump concluding that:

“In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation,”

To anyone who has any appreciation for national security (which should be everyone), it ought to be cause for alarm.

I can’t even fathom how someone who is the subject of that assessment could be on the ballot for President of the United States. These are truly dangerous times we live in and while there is plenty to carp in Clinton, for anyone to have any hesitation, reluctance, or trepidation about how to cast their vote, is beyond comprehension.

Not since the Civil War has there been such a threat to our republic. I fervently hope we survive this election and if it’s not Clinton, I hope we can survive Trump, but I’m not very confident in that regard.
