Beat Pete – Contribute to Don today and I’ll match your contribution

Filed in National by on June 8, 2016

Friends,

I don’t have to tell any of you how terrible Peter Schwartzkopf is, so let’s cut to the chase.

Donate money to Don Peterson today and I’ll match your contribution. $25.00..$50.00…$100.00… Whatever you can swing on your credit card today. Add $0.01 to the contribution so the Peterson campaign knows it is coming from this fundraiser. I have $250.00 set aside for a match, so I’ll match whatever you guys put in up to $250.00

Beating the entrenched and execrable Pete Schwartzkopf is going to be a multi-election deal, but Don Peterson has stepped up to kick off the project with this primary challenge. Show Don that you have his back and thank him for having the guts to take on one of Delaware’s worst legislators.

If you need a little more convincing that he is worthy of your support, here are Don’s What I Stand For page:

    Hi Pete! Thanks for reading.

In honour of commenter Dixon Kuntz, who took the time to comment in the negative and waste everyone’s time rather than simply ignoring the post, I increased my donation from a planned $25 to a paid-in-full $50… or more accurately $50.01.

  4. Jason330 says:

Awesome! Thanks. In honor of DK breaking the ice on this thread I’m upping the match to $300.00

As someone who will be voting in the 14th district’s primary, can someone please explain the hate for Schwartzkopf to help me decide who to vote for?

  6. anonymous says:

Plain and simple, Pete Schwartzkopf is not a Democrat. He is an authoritarian state cop who ran as a Democrat because a Republican could not win that district, and he has surrounded himself with authoritarians who demand fealty to a non-liberal agenda. He is at this point the most powerful elected official in the state, even though most of us have never had the opportunity to vote against him. Leaving him in power will prevent any liberal policies from being enacted.

Dump him and you strike a blow against state police power over civilian politics.

  7. Dorian Gray says:

“(r)an as a Democrat because a Republican could not win that district.”

In the city of Wilmington this is known as “Pullin’ a Purzycki”

Think of him like modern-day Delaware Dixiecrat. Also, as I’ve said before, any former police are automatically disqualified as far as I’m concerned. Nothing personal really, but in my experience their political agenda is incongruous to mine.

  8. Dixon Kuntz says:

A Dixiecrat who has supported and led on every issue from the LGBTQ community over the last 8 years. One of the original supporters and spokespersons for open government legislation. Just because a former cop wants to exempt cop killers from death penalty repeal legislation doesn’t make him a dixiecrat. It may make him wrong, but it’s not like he is against the effort. Maybe the biggest threat to liberals is that they suck at negotiating.

  9. mediawatch says:

    @DG,
“Pullin’ a Purzycki” is just the 2016 version of “Makin’ like Markell.”

  10. anonymous says:

“A Dixiecrat who has supported and led on every issue from the LGBTQ community over the last 8 years.”

An issue that has provided liberal cover for illiberal governance by many a Delaware Democrat, up to and including the governor.

The shit Schwartzkopf pulls in caucus is a disgrace, as is the fact that he’s made common cause not with the liberals in that caucus but with the low-talent hacks who rule the way cops do — through threats and intimidation.

But yeah, ignore all that because he’s nice to gays.

    More like Dixon Spot Brainshouldbe.

  11. Dorian Gray says:

Modern-day Dixiecrat. Emphasis on modern-day. I’m certainly not saying the guy’s Strom Thurmond. Yeah, he got the marriage equality thing through the legislature in 2013. Let’s not pretend he’s some sort of leftist trailblazer. And police department’s political agendas are anathema to me.

And this cop-out (pardon the pun) about “negotiation.” Like Pete really doesn’t believe this stuff. He’s simply making reasonable concessions… I’m not buying what you’re selling.

@mediawatch exactly, that’s the gubernatorial version, yeah.

  12. Bane says:

Im with DK. Libs can’t get anything done without a pragmatist/moderate/DINO leading the way. Watch how Bernie ends up with nothing after this election. At best maybe he gets a couple of seats on the platform committee. Liberals dont want to achieve their goals, they want to die trying to achieve their goals. Its all about being a martyr for the cause, not so much the cause itself.

For example, the 6 Ds who voted against the budget got nothing because they all wanted different stuff. They had no intention of using their no vote to get anything from Pete, they just wanted to make a statement. This gave the “far smarter Rs” the opportunity to use the leverage that the 6 created for their own benefit.

As for Pete working with them: A great politician once said,

“You make peace with your enemies, not your friends”

  13. SussexAnon says:

After LGBT issues Pete is a circa 1980’s moderate republican. Gotta keep taxes low, can’t raise the minimum wage lest all our fabulous Rehoboth pizza joints actually have to PAY someone to be able to live anywhere near the beach, stuff like that.

On an actual local issue, he ramrodded through HIS recommendations for Rte 1 improvements. DelDOT had way more crosswalks in their plan, among other things.
    He also delayed its implementation.

And Pete, like on so many other things, had to be dragged to the open gov’t issue. He is a political pragmatist with the goal of maintaining power and not necessarily moving the liberal ball down the field. Bob Gilligan wasn’t the one selling Jon Atkins as a Democrat down here. Pete was in an effort to have another D on the roster.

Pete is also acutely aware of his need to get republican votes to stay in office. Moderate, business, not bible thumping republicans, but R’s nonetheless.

And the only deal those 6 D no votes will get is the short end of the stick when they need something from Pete. Because that’s how he rolls.

Finally, more than bitching about Pete and Carney and others , taking some action. Great!!

  15. jason330 says:

Make a donation an add $0.01 to it. I want to contribute my max.

  16. Alex D says:

Just donated 12.01. Can’t afford much more for now, but Pete’s gotta go!

  17. Park City says:

I already donated to Pete. Sorry guys. If there is anything I can do to change your mind, including switching party registration, let me know.
