Who will President Clinton appoint to key cabinet positions ?

Filed in National by on May 5, 2016

I’d love to see Bernie Sanders as VP, but I will refrain from holding my breath. Eliz. Warren at Treasury? No. It will probably be some investment banker, let’s face it.

Defense? Hmmm. Who is blood thirsty enough? Dick Cheney? I kid.. (not really)

If not Elizabeth Warren then I’d at least hope for some best-and-the-brightest picks from academia as opposed to the usual revolving-door joyriders from the regulated industries. I also fear DWS has a bright future in the Clinton administration. And please – contrary to recent practice, it is not mandatory to pick a Republican for Defense; I hope we’re through with that.

Hillary needs to appoint Sherrod Brown as Veep. Ohio is always key and also throws a bone to the Sanders wing of the party. He is articulate and progressive. Forget Julian Castro . We don’t need campaign signs that say Clinton- Castro in Florida!!!
    Ha!

In her case, I would say she should pick the ticket that the opponent can’t duplicate, or wait until the opponent picks, and then choose…..uhmm grasshopper.

She will fill Defense and State with these neocon hawks that she feels so comfortable with.

Forget about Markell at Education, he will be working for one of the big scholastic testing companies.

Hillary has mentioned filling 50% of the Cabinet with women, so if she follows through with that then most of the amateur shortlists are wrong.

  7. Liberal Elite says:

I think the token Republican in her cabinet should be Rubio at DHS.
    He’s looking for a job.

(…and that should pretty much kill his chances to challenge her in 2020).

Just heard JIm Web floated as the token R.

“Just heard JIm Web floated as the token R.”

This is a joke?? And did you badly misspell his name (multiple errors) as a joke too?

Michele Flournoy will likely be the first woman Secretary of Defense. She served under Obama too as an Undersecretary of Defense. She’s not a neocon.

I can see Joe Biden serving as Secretary of State, or I can see John Kerry staying on as Secretary of State. Richard Holbrooke would have been, but he died unexpectedly in 2010 or 11.

Deval Patrick will be in the cabinet if he is not VP. He could be Homeland Security or AG.

I see Hillary not going to Wall Street for Commerce or Treasury. Rather, Paul Krugman may be the choice for Treasury. Governor John Lynch will be Commerce.

Former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear will be HHS. I think Ed Rendell and Martin O’Malley and Robert Reich will be in the cabinet somewhere too.

  11. puck says:

Krugman at Treasury? That would explain his recent Bernie-bashing.

All spell errors and typos are authentic. I’m on a phone. But y ah Webb is a joke. I heard him floated as a possible Trump VP pick
