Claire Snyder-Hall and the rest of the team at Common Cause Delaware want to hear your story if you had any difficulty voting at your polling place. I know that Nemski was asked for his ID before voting, and there is always some confusion regarding that procedure. It turns out that, while you are not required to show ID in Delaware, poll workers will ask for it, and if you do not have an ID or are unwilling to show it, you will be required to fill out a form before you can vote. I presume that this form has you swear under penalties of perjury that you are who you say you are.
Anyway, if you had a problem with your registration or your polling place, let Claire and Common Clause know.
I was asked by my polling place to show my ID. When I asked if I needed to, the polling people were having none of my crap and actually said “Well, how would you like it if someone had already voted for you?” Yes, all those people lining up to commit an offense that requires a minimum of 30 days in jail to cast one vote in a primary that is wrapped up in everything but name.
And yes, I did submit this story to Common Cause already
I presented my registration card as I usually do. There wasn’t another voter in the Marbrook Elementary school polling place when I went in ~11:30 AM
I too was asked for my ID. I had it, and after telling them I didnt need to show it to them, I did.
I was also unaware that it is legal in Delaware to pile up campaign signs right up to the front of the building where the booths are. I cant imagine what it must have been like for a Muslim or Latino elementary school student to have to walk into school that day being accosted by signs for the man who wants to persecute them.
Also when I pressed “vote” the Bernie light switched to Clinton…. but im sure that was nothing 😉
One of my neighbors who is a life long dem was unable to vote because his registration was changed to independent without his knowledge! The poll worker said something about people who recently renewed their drivers licenses having similar problems.
I was asked for something identifying me, but they helpfully suggested mail, etc. would be fine. I just showed them my ID because I have one. Everyone seemed helpful and friendly though. I was the only one at my polling place at the time, though since my precinct was dominated by Trumpers, I sensed a smugness when they handed me my “D” instead of an “R”.
Now Ben, there are plenty of Bernie supporters with wild exit poll conspiracy theories. No need to create another one. 😉
Thanks for posting this. I have personally been asked to show my driver’s license in Sussex multiple times, even though that is not DE law. This year, however, was an exception.

Was this a public school? If so, those kids didn’t show up on election day, as schools were closed for the election.
