Clinton in panicked search for “Dean Scream” moment – Not finding it

Filed in National by on April 7, 2016

Based on the histrionic responses to 1) a recent interview and 2) a Sanders stump speech, it is clear that the Clinton campaign is out of ideas and trying to create the kind of “media controversy” that Kerry deftly used to knock Howard Dean out of contention for the Democratic nomination.

It all feels so made up and phony though, doesn’t it? It is difficult for me to imagine it working. Difficult, but not impossible. On this very blog, we have contributors willing to go along with it, I can only imagine how many others in the national media will hear their dog whistle and respond in accordance with their classical conditioning.

Um… how did Clinton create this media controversy? Sorry, but Bernie did this all by himself – just like Hillary did the Nancy Reagan thing, which you posted on. I was fine with that, btw, and expressed my disappointment with her comment on your thread. But… are criticisms like this only out of line when it comes to Sanders? That’s a serious question.

She didn’t create it, but I’ve seen all the hokey and put on “go fuck yourself” outrage before. And she is using it just like anyone in a tight campaign would use anything the other side gives them.

I’m not even seeing the media controversy yet. Maybe I need to start spending time in the fever swamps of Twitter and Facebook.

By this Sunday everyone will have their script well rehearsed.

I guess this is what DL becomes during an election year? Jason writing “Bernie-centric”/”Down with Hillary” screeds with DelawareDem writing the opposite in favor of Clinton?

If this continues into the early summer, the site could well become as intolerable as the new Batman v. Superman!

This video clip is what I wish some “neutral party” could do to the Clinton and Sanders campaigns (especially Bernie and Hillary): https://youtu.be/QPPN_gkj_gk

@prop joe: The battle is tearing apart Daily Kos, why wouldn’t it have the same effect here? It’s inevitable. We’re talking about two highly flawed candidates who nevertheless are the two best options of the four remaining, as Cassandra pointed out on a thread yesterday. If the candidates were better, we wouldn’t have such an easy time finding things to criticize.

IF you treat Bernie as the news in the Sanders campaign, you’re certain to end up where the Hillary supporters are.

Trump is not about Trump, and Sanders is not about Sanders. Two-thirds of the people want radical change, one-third do not. The status quo third wants Hillary. The conservative changers want Trump, the liberal changers want Sanders.

If you Hillary supporters really are concerned about the future of the party, you should be pressing her to move to the left, because the center is not holding.
