Trump militia forms to ‘forcefully protect’ rally goers against ‘far-left agitators’
This seems to be right on schedule.
A group of Donald Trump supporters over the weekend called for volunteers to join a would-be militia aiming to protect voters against so-called “violent far-left agitators.”
In recent days, violence at Trump’s rallies has escalated to match the candidate’s rhetoric. Last week, a man in North Carolina was charged with assault after he sucker-punched a black man. And on Sunday, police in Kansas City pepper-sprayed protesters outside of a Trump event.
Hours after a protester rushed the stage at Trump’s Dayton rally, a Twitter group called “The Lion’s Guard” called on supporters of the GOP front-runner to join a make-shift militia, according to RT.
This disaster is going to happen… I’d say that cooler heads will prevail, but that doesn’t apply to this situation. I think I may have to reread Philip Roth’s “The Plot Against America” in preparation for a fictional account of what a Trump Presidency will undoubtedly look like.
November rolls around and I will have at least a small amount of fear for my safety when I head to the polls to vote for Bernie or Hillary…

We have now reached the point where Trumpism is a movement that will continue whether he wins either nomination or White House. What he has now successfully normalized will be with us for years. We will be lucky if he doesn’t formally recast the GOP as “The American Party” after he gets the nomination. Time to start raising the cash to bribe electors.
As I reread it, the headline does tend to oversell what is basically some guys on the internet.
That said, things are being set in motion.
Is it really overselling it when he regularly says to the crowds and supporters that he wants to do violence against anyone protesting… That he’d pay someone’s legal bills after they assaulted a protester… Openly laments the fact that people can protest and haven’t been put in check…
I think the headline is actually quite prescient!
At first blush it reads as though Trump is putting together a militia. We are probably still a month or so away from that.
