TV Snow forecasts are bullshit

Filed in National by on January 20, 2016

I’m not saying all of TV weather forecasting is bullshit, but I am saying 95% of it is.
2/3rds of Delaware is always* below the rain line. That’s the problem. Philadelphia based weather reports get everyone stirred up over nothing.

Who gets weather from Philly tv stations??

Not downstaters! WBOC in Salisbury .. which not only forecasts for Maryland and Virginia’s Eastern Shore, but north to Dover ..

Best weather website? .. I have depended on intellicast.com for about a dozen years
… it originally was started for mariners and pilots ..

Predicting the snow/rain line is incredibly difficult, even for the most modern and accurate models… even the models that take 10 days of supercomputer time to predict tomorrow’s weather.

My father was a meteorologist. He always told me that these days were the most difficult. A little extra cold air could nullify the goodwill of hundreds of days of accurate prediction.

My father would make outrageous claims, like he invented the question mark.
