Kathy McGuiness’ web site is legit

Filed in National by on November 5, 2015

She puts “Democrat” front and center where is should be.

The video is a polished introduction to voters, so long on biography and a little short in “issues” by design. Of course she is running for Lt. Gov… so what really are the issues?

The video is dull and her message lacks sincerity and any meaningful content. While I agree the significance of the office is in question, the role still offers her a platform to speak about issues of importance. Her campaign website seems to focus on three issues: 1) small business growth; 2) clean beaches, protecting the environment; and 3) efficient government. I’d like to hear more from her about these issues. So far, I’ve only heard rhetoric.

I have a problem with her being a strong Lopez supporter. She donated money to him and he posted on FB that she was one of his strongest supporters. She also ran Pete Schwartzkopf’s campaign. Schwartzkopf has been introducing her around and publicly endorsed her when she ran for RB City Council. She just became a Dem recently. She was an independent and her husband is a strong Republican

  3. Delaware Dem says:

Also she has a Rubio problem when it comes to her attendance at RB City Council meetings so much so that rumor has it that she was asked to resign at one point.

She may also have an eligibility problem for the office of Lt. Governor under the Delaware Constitution. The requirements for LG is 12 years residency with the last 6 years being continuous. In addition, if you’re out of state within those last 6 years, it must be on state business. As of 2012, she was living in Summit County, Utah.

I’ve watched her present before a New Castle meeting – very recently – a number questions from audience weren’t germane to that office- -it would be like asking someone running for county council about how they would fight ISIS- overall gave her a C minus – her emphasis on small business support may not be red meat for a lot of Democrats in a primary fight- if that’s the only note that can be played – maybe for a general election –

  5. puck says:

Support for “small business growth” could mean anything. I am jaded and think it means the usual tax cuts and deregulation.

  6. anonana says:

Her logo says Democrat, but her website asks voters to “change your party registration.” Quite Markellian.

  7. puck says:

    “Growth” is code for trickle-down.

  8. Delaware Dem says:

Anonana, that is probably because most of her friends and supporters are Republicans or at least unaffiliated or independent.

  9. Jason330 says:

    Well shit.

I get why a RB City Council member would have to have a decent working relationship with their state Senator, but Jesus H Christ!!!

    This is ridiculous.

  10. Andy says:

She doesn’t appear to pass the the smell test. Smells like a Republican talks like a Republican sounds like a Republican. Must be a Republican. Don’t need a Markell clone anywhere near elected office

  11. mouse says:

Most of the Sussex legislators and Sussex council are going to stop Isis, homosexuality, abortion and implement a “Christian state”

  12. mouse says:

Maybe she will make it so developers can build ugly plastic generic homes on every square foot of eastern Sussex county

Serving in a City gov’t that allows corporations and LLC’s to vote while keeping unconstitutional residency requirements in the City charter?
