Do you think Charlie Copeland actually reads the shit the DEGOP puts his name to?

I mean Copeland is no idiot (unless maybe he is…?). Maybe he does read this stuff and actually thinks it is somehow rooted in reality.

DEGOP Chair Responds to Democratic Presidential Debate

Newark, DE – The Chairman of the Delaware Republican Party, Charlie Copeland, released the following statement this evening following the Democratic Primary Debate:

“Well, it appears that Halloween has come a bit early this year. What we heard from the Democrats tonight was a scary vision for our nation dressed in pretty language. We also learned that there is no longer room in the Democratic Party for anybody who does not subscribe to the extreme.

“The fact is that the Labor Force Participation Rate has fallen by 3.2%[1] under the Democrats, from 65.2% in January, 2009 to 62% in August, 2015[2], and Delaware’s poverty rate has increased from 9.6% in 2008 to 11% in 2014[3]. These numbers paint a disturbing picture for our state, and call into question whether Democrat policies have actually declared war on the poor rather then poverty. It is simply not possible for Democrats to weave a tapestry out these fibers of failure.

“It’s time for bold Republican leadership that reignites our nation’s economic engine creating new high-paying jobs that help all citizens, especially the poor and middle class, to rise to a new level of economic freedom.”

    Two thoughts:
    1. The footnotes on the economic data suggest it was written by the Caesar Rodney Institute.
    2. The couple of spelling and usage errors suggest that the author did not achieve proficiency on Smarter Balanced.
Charlie can do better. He should be ashamed of himself.

I think Greg Lavelle might have written that himself…

  3. puck says:

Charlie does a great job describing the effects of the Republican Great Recession. Look at the dates he chooses for his stats…

  4. Puck, you had better recheck the dates. It is a good response.

I don’t have to check my dates – I lived it. But for those who are too dumb to admit it:

“According to the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research (the official arbiter of U.S. recessions) the U.S. recession began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009, and thus extended over 19 months.[5] The Great Recession was related to the U.S. financial crisis of 2007–08 and subprime mortgage crisis of 2007–09.”

  6. Since I have to spell it out to you, the dates show that we are worse off now than then. It should have been easy to beat the recession.

  7. Prop Joe says:

C’mon, big D… Just admit it… America will always be “worse off”, economically, until a stalwart GOP occupies the White House 😉

Republican conventional wisdom: “It should have been easy to beat the recession.”
