The Tyranny of Cyclical Politics: A Republican will win the White House in 2016

Filed in National by on September 25, 2015

If history is a trusted guide, a Republican will win the White House in 2016. Here is the operative tea leaf – the deficit.

Between 2009 and 2013, President Barack Obama successfully eliminated the towering $1.4 trillion deficit legacy of the Bush administration, lowering it to $679 billion.

Like Bill Clinton before him, President Obama eliminated a GOP produced budget deficit in spite of the GOP’s angry and sustained opposition. He cleaned up the mess. This is an astonishing, but predictable accomplishment.

Now that the country is not teetering on the edge of fiscal calamity, thanks to a Democratic White House, a relived country can now turn to a Republican to explode the deficit again. The GOP’s fiscal recklessness will probably include “growth oriented” tax cuts for the wealthiest individuals and corporations, and an unfunded ill-planned and poorly executed vanity war. All of that mischief aided and abetted by “Democrats” like Senator Tom Carper.

Again, if history is any guide.

Way to ruin my weekend! 🙁

However, I don’t think the GOP is going to run on the economy and jobs. They haven’t so far. I think they’re going to run on Planned Parenthood/abortion/sex pills, immigration and Sharia Law/religious tests. If they keep going the way they have been then I’m hopeful.

I’m headed to major Red country this weekend (Vienna, VA) to visit Republican friends. Yep, I’ll infiltrate and report back!

    LOL!

And as a parting gift I give you the latest Republican outreach to black voters, courtesy of Jeb!

“Our message is one of hope and aspiration,” he said, according to the Washington Post. “It isn’t one of division and get in line and we’ll take care of you with free stuff. Our message is one that is uplifting — that says you can achieve earned success.”

    Can’t. Make. This. Stuff. Up.

It’s scary when so many people buy into an obviously false narrative
