Carper’s a ‘Yes’ On Iran Deal!

Filed in Delaware, International, National by on August 28, 2015

Real good news to start the day:

“I still have serious doubts about their government. So does the Obama administration, for that matter. That’s why this deal is based on mistrust. If some future Iranian regime decides to violate the agreement, we’ll know it.”

I like that quote. Coons to announce his position on Tuesday. Carney, of course, hasn’t made up his mind.

TR Carper pulls one out of his ass. Nice work, buddy. Next time I see him in the coffee shop I’m going to shake his hand. (I usually just give him dirty looks.)

I do like that the quote directly implicates Mr CA Coons and his flimsy excuses. Coons is suppose to announce his position next week. Many of you lot know people who know people. What are the odds that his tough-guy routine was just a clever rouse to show that he really, really, really reflected on it but in the end he’ll support?

I think he just wants to be the vote that ensures the veto isn’t necessary… Looks like a grandstand for attention to me. Announcing nearly a week beforehand that you’ll announce your position during a scheduled public speech. Just fucking come out with it!

So, apparently the AIPAC check was either late or insufficient. Now on to the little bald bastard.

  3. Mitch Crane says:

Senator Carper needs to be given accolades for doing what is right, especially on an issue as crucial as this one. We have more influence over this we criticize when we believe they are wrong if we praise them when we think they are right.

I trust Senator Coons will announce his support on Tuesday.

I also disagree with the comment that Congressman Carney “has not made up his mind”. He has not ANNOUNCED his position. He is also recovering from surgery.

  4. Right, Mitch. He’s recovering from surgery which, no doubt, provides him some cover to delay his announcement about running for governor for yet a few more months:

Probably because his brain is so close to where the operation took place that he can’t think clearly.

Here’s how the News-Journal put it:

“U.S. Rep. John Carney, D-Del., has not yet taken a side on the issue.”

Sounds like he hasn’t made up his mind to me. But if you, as an ‘insider’, want to break some news, please do so.

  5. Mitch Crane says:

El Som—-I am not privileged to know Congressman Carney’s thinking—or as I told an obnoxious, and unnamed, reporter for CBS News when he asked me what I knew about the VP running– ” I am not privileged to know and if I were privileged to know, I would not be privileged to say”. He was not nice. He should blog.

  6. Mitch Crane wrote: “I also disagree with the comment that Congressman Carney “has not made up his mind”. He has not ANNOUNCED his position. ”

The News-Journal wrote: ““U.S. Rep. John Carney, D-Del., has not yet taken a side on the issue.”

Now Mitch writes that he doesn’t know Carney’s position. The newspaper wrote that he had not yet taken a side. Which is what I wrote. Keep your story straight, Mitch.

Political lackeys can be at least as obnoxious as bloggers. Just sayin’.

  7. Mitch Crane says:

How is my saying he has not announced his position making me a lackey?

How does the NJ know he has not taken a side? All they know he has not stated.

I am nobody’s lackey. I owe them nothing. I just don’t go out of my way to insult people by nit picking.

  8. kavips says:

Now I know why God gave Carper this present term.

  9. ” I just don’t go out of my way to insult people by nit picking.”

Uh, Mitch, that’s exactly what you did when you ‘corrected’ me when you responded to me. But I’m sure your powerful friends will give you a nice pat on the head.

    You’re a real ‘team player’.

  10. Dorian Gray says:

    You’re both nit-picking. It’s boring.

  11. False equivalence. Mitch is forthright, puts himself out for the good of the order.
