Got a spare $2,700 laying around? Hillary Clinton fundraiser Aug. 22 in Rehoboth

Filed in National by on August 11, 2015

From the Cape Gazette:

Lewes-Rehoboth locals and tri-state supporters are invited to take part in a fundraising event to benefit Hillary for America Saturday, Aug. 22 in Rehoboth Beach.

Event chairs include Claire Lucas, LGBT and Democratic activist, her partner Judy Dlugacz and Peter D. Rosenstein. Dlugacz is a human rights pioneer, founder and president of Olivia, and a generous contributor to the Rehoboth Beach community, including time-honored premier sponsorship of CAMP Rehoboth’s Women’s FEST annual fundraising event. Rosenstein is a Democratic activist, nonprofit executive in Washington, D.C., and a long time home owner in Rehoboth Beach.

“People understand that Hillary is the most prepared person to run for president in decades,” says Rosenstein. “From her work with the Children’s Defense Fund to her being named head of the Legal Services Corporation, The National Law Journal twice listed Hillary Clinton as one of the hundred most influential lawyers in America. During her tenure as First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and 1983 to 1992, Hillary led a task force that reformed Arkansas’s education system.

“In 1995 her historic speech in Beijing to the 4th World Conference on Women was applauded and made headlines around the world. In 1997 and 1999, she played a leading role in advocating the creation of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, the Adoption and Safe Families Act, and the Foster Care Independence Act. Then, as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton’s 2011 Human Rights Day speech has been deemed a historic moment not only for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender [LGBT] rights movement, but for the nation as a whole. “

The Hillary for America fundraiser will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at a Rehoboth Beach private residence. Donations of varying levels receive special recognition: $2,700 donors will be named event co-chairs; $1,000 donors will receive host recognition; and $500 or $250 contributors will be honored as supporters. The Rehoboth Beach event address will be provided to RSVP donors.

For donation and RSVP information, email Rosenstein at peter@prosenstein.com.

Lucas adds, “With all that Hillary has accomplished, we get something more. On January 20, 2017, America has the opportunity to see Hillary Rodham Clinton sworn in as the nation’s first woman president.”

Nothing says “I am down for the struggle with the common folk” like a $$$$$ fundraiser.

I admit that this headline is a dishonest. Peons can get in this thing for a donation of $250.

I think I wrote the headline because the press release (I assume it is a press release) vibes like a $2,700 a head fundraiser.

To minimum wage people, $250 may as well be $2700. But I am sure if they just work harder and set goals, they too, will get their boss a new BMW next year.

  4. While I’m not a Hillary fan, it’s not as if she doesn’t need to raise $$’s, especially since Citizens United.

Every Rethug candidate has at least one billionaire sugar daddy funding them. Would you have the D candidate run at a distinct $$ disadvantage?

    BTW, that’s a rhetorical question.

  5. SussexAnon says:

How about a cheap fundie to let the plebes meet the candidate? You know, those people that the candidate is going to ignore as soon as he/she gets elected.
