Chris Bullock announces for Lt. Gov

Filed in National by on June 29, 2015

Bullock claims thefirst second mover advantage. If Copeland really is letting the Teabags run (and lose) statewide to send some kind of message, the Dem primary is basically the election.

Chris Bullock became the first candidate to get going in the post-Beau Biden era by letting fellow Democrats know Wednesday he has decided to run for lieutenant governor.

Bullock has been open about his interest in running for a higher office when his single term as the New Castle County Council president is up next year, but he had not settled on whether it would be lieutenant governor or congressman.

The race for lieutenant governor is wide open. The one for Delaware’s lone seat in the House of Representatives is not quite.

Lieutenant governor is so open, there is not even a sitting officeholder. Matt Denn abandoned it mid-term to get himself elected as the Democratic attorney general last year and left it yawning, because the state constitution does not bother to provide a way to fill a vacancy.

For his campaign symbol, I suggest a bullhog with teats.

  2. truthteller says:

This is beyond laughable. What he is done besides being Gordon’s puppet?

  3. Calvin sparks says:

Honestly neither of our two confirmed candidates excite me. Bullock is Gordon’s crony and eaby is persona non grad with the party

Bullock was the Republican Party’s puppet. I guess he has since “seen the light.”

  6. I THOUGHT I remembered this.

With the Lord behind him, he can lie with impunity. As long as he doesn’t lie down with the Devil. Which he’s done by hooking up with Tom Gordon.

    Yet another ‘pious’ phony.

  7. John Manifold says:

Bullock diddled with the GOP for years. In the 1990’s he was going to run for GA as a Republican.

Of a kind with Ted Blunt, who ran twice on the Reagan-DuPont team until he learned to count. Fun fact about Ted: he never, over 28 years of electioneering, ran against a Republican.

  8. Geezer says:

I agree with his assertion that it’s time for an African-American to attain high office in Delaware. I disagree that it should be him. I would prefer the person hold a second qualification.

And given that the African American leadership in this state hasn’t exactly set the world on fire to date, that’s a reasonable request. Yeah, I said it.

Key to Bullock’s win was the effort to turn out church people to vote for him — and once he hooked up with Tom Gordon — to vote for Gordon too. That GOTV strategy is meant to go statewide in 2016.

  10. Mitch Crane says:

I do not have a horse in this race, but former Sussex County Register of Wills Greg Fuller announced a few months ago and has been campaigning up and down the state full time since. He also is African-American. I have not seen Mr. Bullock down here in years. Brad Eaby is making the rounds, too.

Bullock entering the Lt Governor’s race demonstrates the deepness of the Democratic bench. The problem here is that its do Double A or less, much less. People the main requirement for lt. governor is that should something happen to the governor the public would have confidence in their ability to govern. If somone real doesn’t come forward, a good republican could actually beat this sad lot
