Navarro Running for Insurance Commissioner

Filed in Delaware by on June 23, 2015

Well, I guess that Karen Weldin Stewart proved that you don’t have to know anything about insurance to be Insurance Commissioner.

Still, cop to sheriff to…IC? I dunno:

  1. Jason330 says:

I’m probably down with this. Who are Trinidad’s peeps though. ? KWS is part of the Gordon mafia, so is there an opposing team?

  2. Mitch Crane says:

Trini Navarro was a licensed insurance producer (agent) before he became a police officer. His father was a long-time agent. I remind everyone that Matt Denn had no insurance experience when he ran, but had experts under him. Denn was the best insurance commissioner a consumer could hope for.

  3. Citizen36 says:

Good for him! I look forward to supporting him. How KWS has won two elections is beyond me.

  4. Rufus Y. Kneedog says:

How KWS won the last election shouldn’t be beyond anyone. Too many people perceived her as vulnerable and the vote was split, letting her win the primary with 30something percent of the vote. If any more D’s jump into the race the same thing could happen again.

  5. E. Gregious says:

    @Rufus:
No, KWS’s sugar daddy McDowell bought two fake candidates for her to split the vote. Don’t blame it on the voters. They clearly wanted Crane.

  6. Geezer says:

From another perspective, this must mean that Navarro thinks Gordon will stay in the county exec job.

  7. The Godfather says:

Kws won because she was the only woman running against one viable candidate (mitch crane) and 3 other male midgets that sucked just enough votes off to let her win. When you consider that the democratic electorate at roughly 58% female, it is amazing Mitch almost won. I understand the McDowell-Kws honeymoon with gordon is over and uncle tom is supporting navarro. Navarro would have qualified as one of the above male midgets. Considering his age and the fact that he retired from the police force after 20 years and spent 6 years in the sherrifs office he couldn”t have sold much insurance. When your main qualification is your father was an insurance agent, that should encourage more bad candidates to run and a likely god forbid repeat of the 2012 election. I really disappointed that if Mitch wasn’t running that he’s supporting a clearly unqualified candidate. Trini navarro is no Matt Denn

  8. hmm says:

I agree geezer. But there is the possibility he decided not many make it beyond the county exec spot politically.

  9. Geezer says:

Trini Navarro is a long way from having to worry about not being able to run for a higher office than county executive.

  10. E.Gregious says:

So what’s the battle plan for avoiding a third KWS term that lets her screw Delaware insurance consumers for another 4 years? That activity is all she’s good at, it’s how she got where she is.

  11. Linda says:

Trini had a very good turn out at his announcement for his run for insurance commissioner. His speech was well written and presented thoughtfully with valid points. He may very well position himself to unseat KWS if he sticks to the facts of what a mess things are and does not attack her per se.

  12. The Godfather says:

Linda first per se is latin for “in itself” not for “personally” which. apparently you were trying to say. Second, even as whifty as she is KWS will be a very well-funded incumnbant woman. It will take a strong candidate like Mitch Crane, Bryan Shortor perhaps Brenda Mayrack(off setting the KWS gender advantage} Navarro will be an unqualified underfunded midget that will make it difficult for a qualified candidate to rid us of the darling of the insurance industry

  13. Linda says:

@godfather please don’t lecture me on what I mean to write in Latin Spanish or English. It should be clear that my meaning of per se was used to indicate that KWS’ incompetence should not be thought to unseat her by itself. Instead Trini will have to use statistics and many available actual instances and scenarios to accomplish that. He has a lot of resources in his corner!

  14. The Godfather says:

Linda I wasn’t lecturing you. I just pointed out that your use of the term per se was incorrect. I reread several times both of your postings and can only conclude that you don’t know anything about politics or grammar. Navarro is far less qualified than any of the midgets that kept Mitch Crane from beating KWS last time. Other than “He has a lot of resources in his corner” What would qualify him in education or experience to be Insurance Commissioner?

  15. Linda says:

@gdfather Once again I point out to you – – you know neither my intent or me so please refrain from your nonsense. I posted my entry from from my cell phone for expediency and not to please you! As to your direct and polite question I think the fact that he is Mitch’s candidate of choice speaks volumes for Trini’s electability. After speaking with Mitch and listening to Trini speak, I see that Trini has the natural ease to work the crowd and Mitch has the knowledge to mentor Trini on insurance issues. Is Trini a long shot possibly? I would bet on him, Mitch will not be stopped this time around!

  16. The Godfather says:

So let me see if i got this right. navarro is an acknowledged long shot by you. His primary asset is that he is an empty vessel that the enormously more qualified person can pour all his knowledge into. sounds like a KWS re election. Time for a draft Mitch Cranestrategy and get the real thing .but again you haven;t talked about education and experience

  17. Linda says:

Running against any incumbent woman office holder with or without education/ experience and/or empty/full vessel will always make a male a long shot in Delaware. However, Trini successfully ran and won albeit a small office as sheriff. Put his name out there often and did some good deeds in his capacity returning money to people actively searching them out, to name a few. This may seem like small accomplishments, nevertheless they are things he can speak about when running for elected office which resonate with those people that vote. He has an education, he has had two successful careers, he has held an elected position and he is an honorable man. As far as experience what more experience does one need to have to run for insurance commissioner given the the state that the office is currently being mismanaged other than to want to do a better job than what is currently being done. Delaware deserves better and Delaware can do better. Simple as that!

  18. Linda says:

@godfather I don’t know how my name ended up being undefined but that is my answer to your question. LOL Oh I forgot Trini grew up in the insurance business that’s what his dad did for a living.

  19. Geezer says:

“Oh I forgot Trini grew up in the insurance business that’s what his dad did for a living.”

My father was a chemist. That doesn’t make me qualified to work in a lab.

  20. Linda says:

Hi Geezer: Figured I’d hear from you sooner or later . . . we could go tit for tat on your comment but the fact is Trini is not trying to be a chemist he is trying to be insurance commissioner whose role is to be an advocate for the consumers of the State of Delaware and not an advocate for the insurance companies as is currently being done. He has the basic knowledge to fulfill this role. I was asked about his knowledge and education I answered as best as I was able. I am speaking as a person who knows that KWS has to go. Mitch would be my first choice. Since he has put forth Trini I will support him until I see something that changes my mind …

  21. Geezer says:

You’re not too bright, are you? Since you’re too dense to understand what I said, I’ll lay it out: What his father did has not the slightest thing to do with what Trini has done or been trained to do. It would take a world-class moron to suggest otherwise.

  22. Linda says:

    Lmao.

  23. The Godfather says:

Linda you told me you answered to the best of your ability. The questions of relavant experiernce and education should not be hard to answer. When asked about education you responded to geezer that ‘he has an education” Does he have a Phd or a ged? Does he have education relavant to the office such as an MBa or a law degree or even courses in business school. On experience you say that he has “two sucessful careers. With all due respect, a functionary office like sheriff or register of wills is not the kind of experience that has any applicability to the inmportant regulatory responsibilities of insurance commissioner.. Also what makes his career as a retired cop sucessful. Did he retire as police chief, captain lieutenant sgt corporal or patrolman? what distinguished him from every other cop that reired after 20 yrs? There are a lot of cops that retire and become security guards at the mall or the casinos. With respect your LMAO response to Geezer, If you can’t stand heat, stay out of the kitchen.

  24. Linda says:

I am not his spokes person only someone who is voting for him. Enough said. And once again don’t tells what to do you asshole!!

  25. The Godfather says:

Linda With respect to your last response calling me an asshole, I assume that your the kind of ignorant trailor trash political groupy that has latched onto Navarros campaign. No one is telling you what to do. When I suggested that N avarro was a political midget, much less quaified than any of the candidates that KWS beat in 2012, you rose to his defense. It’s time to put up or shut up. Why so nasty to me . While I agree with Geezer;s assessment ” not too bright…dense…world class moron” All I suggested that your early postings demonstrated a lack of command of politics and grammar. Hardly worthy of an “asshole” response

  26. Geezer says:

She’s a Gordon acolyte, so brainless support is all anyone will get out of her.

  27. Linda says:

Oh my my you seem to think you are the “real Godfather” since you think that you can belittle and pass judgment freely and anonymously on this blog. hahaha

  28. Geezer says:

And you seem to think you have something to add here. You’re wrong.

  29. E.Gregious says:

You bickering morons will get the insurance commissioner you deserve. That’s four more years of incompentence and corruption with KWS. Right now no one even gets in the DOI’s door without first paying at her and Reed’s toll booth. She’ll be 70 years old by next election. She should pack it in and enjoy the millions she’s gouged from the insurance industry. Delaware insurance consumers would be grateful.

  30. Geezer says:

“Right now no one even gets in the DOI’s door without first paying at her and Reed’s toll booth.”

    Prove it.

  31. cassandra m says:

    E. Gregious needs to stick to her name or be gone.

  32. The Godfather says:

    E. Gregious As correctly identified by Geezer the only moron (world class he suggested) in the previous discussion was Linda. As far as “bickering “her calling me an asshole when I pressed her for Navarro’s qualifications certainlywould go beyond bickering. You come right out of the box nasty and namecalling. You represented your candidate well

  33. Linda says:

Sorry to disappoint you boys but as I identify myself by name Cassandra knows my identity so its not me … LOL … now you two can go back and continue your multi-thread bullying as I am done playing with you two for the time being. hahahaha

  34. cassandra_m says:

    E. Gregious’ last post was moderated. I’m not kidding about one name — it is part of the rules of the road and if you aren’t interested in abiding by them, you can go someplace where that BS is AOK.

  35. Geezer says:

No disappointment here. If you had anything intelligent to say I would welcome it. Other than indicating your support for Navarro, you haven’t added anything, and apparently can’t even comprehend simple analogies. Say something smart and you’ll get no pushback from me.

  36. Geezer says:

Trini Navarro showed me all I need to know about his character when he sued the Coons administration for not giving him a promotion because a spokeswoman told him the truth about why, namely, that he was a Gordon guy in a Coons administration. It was a chickenshit move, it got the woman fired, and it told me all I need to know about Trini Navarro.

  37. The Godfather says:

As I recall he had to play the hispanic card and sued for discrimination to become sgt. Under Gordon, Feebury and Coons . the county police were diverse with Women and other minorties well=represented in higher rank positions. Again in a test of my memory under. the settlement Navarro was promoted to sgt the day he retired. Linda talked about a distinguished career. Cops who don’t make sgt in 20 year are mall security material
