DL Approval Ratings for Markell: Ouch.

Filed in National by on April 8, 2015

Education is the third rail of Delaware politics. You touch it, you die.

How else do you explain the overwhelmingly negative opinion of Governor Markell’s job performance among Delaware Liberal readers. 42% strongly disapprove. Another 28% somewhat disapprove. That’s a total of 70% disapproving of your job performance, which only 29% approve. Governor Markell and his aides can take solace in the fact that this is not a scientific poll at all. Still, ouch.

Here is our schedule of upcoming polls:

Wednesday — Attorney General Matt Denn (D)
Thursday — Congressman John Carney (D)
Friday — Senator Chris Coons (D)
Monday — Senator Tom Carper (D)
Tuesday — Auditor Tom Wagner (R)
Wednesday — Treasurer Ken Simpler (R)
Thursday — Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart (D)
Friday — New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon (D)

Take the poll on the right side of the front page underneath the Vote Tracker sign today to register your opinion of AG Denn. Of course, this is a voluntary internet poll, thus it is not random or scientific and the margin of error would have to be huge. So this is only for fun and not for any real value.

He’s not a good looking shaved head person. That picture you post of him is terrible. Seriously, looks are part of the package and he just doesn’t look stately

Uh, you can add to education: (1) the fact that he has never proposed a raise for State workers in his entire term, and has in fact lowered their compensation through indirect means several times; (2) that he has the environmental sensitivity of a Chinese sewage plant manager spewing filth into a river; (3) that he has consistently raided the Transportation Trust Fund while decrying the poor state of our infrastructure and proposing new taxes to refill the fund he emptied to dump money into the General Fund; and (4) that his program of corporate welfare has lead to the bleeding of tens of millions of our tax dollars annually into a program that not only hasn’t succeeded, but was in fact created without any metric to measure success or failure in the first place.

    Nah. Gotta be all education.

My biggest problem with Governor Markell is that I feel lied to. What he said to win is not how he governed.

When he cut out the state 25 dollar match to the deferred compensation program as state treasurer while not a big thing in the overall picture is was an indicator of things to come
