Protect Us From Sharia Law, Senator Lawson!!!

Filed in Delaware by on April 7, 2015

Senator Dave Lawson says that he will introduce legislation designed to keep foreign laws and lawsuits from intruding on Delaware’s court system. And the legislation will naturally have a teabag Republican name, since the threat the legislation is addressing only exists in the fever dreams of teabag Republicans watching Fox News.

Marydel Republican Dave Lawson Friday announced plans to unveil the Free Speech Defense Act and a measure called American Laws for American Courts. The first bill would ban courts here from granting awards resulting from libel suits filed in courts in other countries, unless the defendant was given the same legal protections they’d get in court in Delaware. The second measure would prohibit the use of foreign laws and legal doctrines in Delaware courts.

The first bill sounds really self serving. Remember back in January during the Paris terrorist attack how conservatives went on Fox News and blatantly lied about how England and France had “no-go” zones where Muslims ruled exclusively? The City of Paris, presumably in French courts, is suing Fox News for libel. So Senator Lawson wants to protect the rights of lying conservatives to freely lie on American soil about anything and everything foreign without any fear of being held to account. Now that is a conservative principle if I ever heard one.

The second one is just plain conservative fearmongering. Sharia Laws!!! The Muslims are coming!!! A solution in search of a problem.

    Encroaching Sharia…totally real.
    Climate Change… complete bullshit.

  2. Dorian Gray says:

I suppose if you are wholly unequipped to address actual problems you could always just invent something.

By the way, this guy Lawson is community college drop-out and ex-police, yes? I’m sure he is a real deep thinker. I’m shocked he doesn’t have some creative ideas that may actually have a positive impact on something. Fucking shocked.

  3. Jason330 says:

Delaware being tiny, I happen to know that Dave Lawson is a decent and honorable man. This legislation is just crap though.

I bet they’re happy the bible was written in the ol’ USofA! Good thing they can still keep citing that book as law! 😉

They need to pass a law that says Jesus was white. I’m tired of having to defend his ethnicity.

Put that in this bill, and I’m on this honorable, decent, nut case’s side

I’m sure he’s a real fine fella and I readily admit I don’t know him at all, but if you put your name on something like this get ready to be called a fucking backwards clown.

I see the area he represents. The fightin’ 15th. The swath on land the sweeps west from Smyrna and Milford to the Maryland border. A veritable hotbed of intellectual thought.

The guy got 9,500 votes and won the election by 500. It’s fine that he represents idiots so he needs to do what he needs to do. However, I’m not going pretend he’s a bright guy because he goes to church and doesn’t curse or whatever he does. He’s wasting our fucking time over nothing. I’m not commenting on his affability or his charitable nature. I’m assessing his mental aptitude. If you don’t want to look like a fucking imbecile don’t do stupid things.

If this is where his priorities are I feel obligated to say that he seems to have a significant intellectual deficiency. But that’s fine. I know a lot of really pleasant people who are only marginally literate.

If he every meet Jesus he’d have him stopped and frisked. Fucking dirty hippy vagrant.

  8. Calvin Sparks says:

Senator Lawson, took Tea Party money left and right, so no shock here. he took money from national donors too. He is playing up to all the BS rhetoric of Fox News and the national party.

I live in Hartly, and I agree with Dorian Gray.

Encroaching Sharia Law is total bullshit, but maybe we could get someone to add an amendment saying that no law can be passed that is based upon someone’s “religious beliefs”. That’s how Sharia laws got started in the first place, so let’s just eliminate the root of all evil.
