Final Call For MVP Nominees

Filed in Delaware by on December 11, 2014

C’mon, now folks. You have until midnight tomorrow to nominate those Most Valuable to the Progressive Cause in Delaware for 2014.

Yes, I know it was not a great year for progressivism in Delaware. But that opens the door to some below-the-radar picks, those deserving of greater recognition.

I’ve got six, and only six, real solid choices, some of them off the beaten track.

So, there’s plenty of room for your suggestions.  You’ve got until midnight Friday to submit your choices.  A ‘Bulo Tip of the Sombrero awaits…

I will post the list next Tuesday right here at 10 am, and will then go on the Al Mascitti show to discuss it.

Where do we nominate? Comments? Tip jar?

  2. Right here on this thread.

  3. Jason330 says:

    I’m going to email one.

  4. Is this limited to politicians or the general public as well?

  5. Delaware Dem says:

Some nominations that I have received:

John Kowalko–in particular for his efforts to stand tirelessly with his constituents who were against the power plant [at the old Newark Chrysler site]–even though his party pushed for it.

    Another on the same issue:

Group Newark Residents Against the Power Plant or NRAPP for their tireless activism–protesting, organizing, online archiving of FOIA documents, LTE writing, birddogging, demonstrating at UD trustee meetings and Newark City council meetings, speaking out to the Faculty Senate, lobbying in Dover..and for never wavering from the issue–Showing up at Representative coffees–Placing signs, etc.

  6. Delaware Dem says:

For me, I think the hands down winner is Mike Matthews. The work he does on education and the ADA and his real job as a teacher is both unfathomable and phenomenal.

  7. pandora says:

I second the Mike Matthews nomination. There’s no contest in my mind. Mike has been amazing.

  8. Jason330 says:

I was curious so I looked up the past Winners.

    2009 – Karen Peterson
    2010 – Christine O’Donnell
    2011 – Dave Sokola
    2012 – Bryan Townsend
    2013 – Sarah McBride

  9. That answers my question! And I agree with the Mike Matthews nomination. Nobody speaks up for our schools more. And as a testament to his character, he supported and attended the public comment for Gateway Lab’s potential closure. The voice of Delaware, IMHO!

  10. Now we’re cookin’! Keep ’em coming…

BTW, I really like Mike Matthews, and he might make the list.

But I’ve never heard him described as ‘unfathomable’ before…
