I can’t let it go…

Filed in National by on November 13, 2014

I just can’t get over this statement by Tom Caper’s spokeswoman. Why is it tormenting me? Perhaps because every bit of it is a cynical lie.

Carper “believes it is time to set politics aside and move forward in a bipartisan manner to address this complicated question,”

Hold it. Is the keystone pipeline a complicated question? I don’t think so. It is pretty much known to be an ecological disaster waiting to happen concocted to further enrich a half dozen or so people. But perhaps calling it a complicated question is just a little cover?

And anyway…is this setting politics aside? Actually this vote is purely political. A ploy to help Landreiu who is going to lose anyway. Also, signaling a willingness to override the President’s veto makes it MORE political not less political. Does Carper really believe that up is now down? That his constituents are THIS dumb? Well, they are this dumb and I’m sure he is so used to getting by with kind of transparent BS that he didn’t really give it much thought.

“He is hopeful that moving forward with this bipartisan bill will pave the way for Congress to work together on other measures to increase our energy independence…”

That’s just a pure out and out lie. There is no way he harbors that hope. No way. Unless he has the mental age of a five year old (which he doesn’t), there is no possible way that he can view this veto override as a means to get congress “working together” to do anything. The brazenness of this lie is just stupefying.

…while also addressing the real environmental and public health threats we face from greenhouse gas pollution.”

But wait… There are some dumbass hippies in my state talking about global warming and climate change so here are some crumbs. Jesus Christ. I’m just… I mean. I’ve been doing this for a while. Keeping track of votes and statements and this really just takes the cake.

When Tom Carper get reelected with 60% of the vote again, it will be to our eternal shame.

  1. Carper Changes His Reason For Voting in Favor of Keystone : Delaware Liberal | November 18, 2014

Why doesn’t he just cross the aisle and get it over with. At least it would put us out of our misery. I’d bet Delaware would still vote for him. But there would be honor in owning up to his deeply held beliefs — take care of the wealthy at all costs. And it would free up the party to find a D to run for that seat. GACK! I think he finally found the last straw. At least for me.

    AuntieD:
Exactly as I proposed yesterday on another thread — and please take Markell and Carney too.
Mary Landrieu’s campaign is floating in the Gulf of Mexico on a punctured life raft and Carper naively thinks he’s going to save her. This is truly an embarrassment to Delaware.

  3. Tom Hawk says:

Today’s mail brought a letter from Joe Sestak, member of the Del GA. He announces that he will enter the 2016 primary running for the US Senate. He also asked for campaign donations. Any comments as to how he rates versus Carper? I’m interested because voting for Carper and Carney creates a smell that I can’t wash out of my clothes. He has a web site at JoeSestak.com. I haven’t checked it yet.

  4. SussexAnon says:

Sestak is in Pa, isn’t he?

  5. Tom Hawk says:

My apologies. I was wrong. Sestak IS a PA pol. My faulty memory.

  6. EvolvDE says:

Maybe the Dems are making moves to be more, uh, Dem-like?

That AuntieDem thinks that this is too much is really saying something.

If you want to let out steam about Carper, join the protest put together by the Sierra Club outside his office at Chase Bank at 3rd and Walnut on Monday. It’s from noon to 1 pm.

  9. jason330 says:

Can you get someone from the Sierra Club to primary him? Please?!

  10. Andy says:

Carper seemed to be perplexed about Senator Warrens most recent so called appointment. Obviously I’m a sceptic because I think this is a small bone thrown to progressives. I dont see her influence being any greater as an advidor to Shumer

  11. mouse says:

The dems need an insurgent force inside the party. The teaparty (what ever that is) has ran a lot of establishment republicans out for nutty candidates but at least they forced some people out. The Dems could learn from this I guess there are way fewer zealots in the dems

  12. SussexAnon says:

The dems had an insurgent force. It was called the Occupy Movement but they were “too smart” to align themselves with a party, like the tea party did. The OM remained strictly populist and non partisan and refused to work with the Dem party (or clearly state their goals for that matter).

    That worked out really well.
