Wonderful Del Dem! And at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month, all the churchbells should ring….or at least they used to.
THANK YOU to the many who have served, and those who are serving from one very, very, grateful, biggest chicken, scaredy cat, wuss, couldn’t do what you do, appreciative citizen of this country, the United States of America, who knows freedom isn’t free, and we aren’t perfect, but WE ARE the best option on the globe. If only everyone could appreciate the things we never even think about as being a concern, or a right, is ours and we even get to complain about it and each other. Oh, we are such a choice nation even in the worst of times.
THANK YOU to all those who serve, in spite of our casual acknowledgements. YOU ARE the stage crew of our unique and coveted production–The United States of America! And I get to live here. With gratitude.
Now if you could be so kind as to not send us around the world to shitholes/sandboxes that we have no business being in, sent there under the catch-all phrase “Fer ‘murca’s freedom!”, that would be great.
The only threat to America that some a-hole with a shoulder firing rocket poses to our freedom is people here freaking the fuck out and demanding we give up all of our privacy and almost all of our freedoms to keep the scary many over there (6000+ miles over there) from taking our freedom.
Trust me Sussex Anon–I send no one, I was the lone voice after 9/11 who said….don’t…it’s not worth blowing their dirt to dust. Only the Episcopal chaplain sat with me then. I am a pacifist who doesn’t subscribe to those strategic decisions felt necessary.
But, I sure as heck will sort, package, support, drive, deliver, and donate to those who are doing the dirty work their country has asked of them. It is a horrible task from any angle in war. But that’s the rules of engagement, and I’m glad it’s not on my soil, and I was not asked to go. The underbelly of humanity–war.
And thank you for your service…..volunteer or drafted.

Because I have seen the other side.
You are welcome, Joanne.

Oh heck SA–don’t worry about giving up your privacy to the government. Let Facebook do it for you!!
Joanne, you’re welcome.
SA – Ain’t that the truth. After 19+ years, I find myself asking “why” more than ever.
