Anti-Gay group calls out SCOTUS for attacking their religious freedom

Filed in National by on October 6, 2014

If your religion calls on you to be an insufferable prick to everyone (especially gays), you’ve got to be pretty chagrined by the Supreme Court’s decision to not smite the evildoers. The National Organizations for Marriage isn’t turning the other cheek. They are pissed, and calling for action (and donations).

” It is critical not only to marriage but to the republican form of government in this country to amend the Constitution to reaffirm the meaning of marriage. We therefore call on the US Congress to move forward immediately to send a federal marriage amendment to the states for ratification.

“We call upon Americans vigorously to contest this development by turning to the political process, starting with the upcoming mid-term elections. We urge voters to hold politicians accountable and demand to know if they will accept the illegitimate act of attempting to redefine marriage or whether they will stand with the American people to resist. In particular, we urge Republicans to hold their party leaders to account, and to demand that they remain true to their belief that marriage is the union of one man and one ….blah blah blah Send money.

To which I say – AWESOME. Make every election about gay marriage. Thanks to the energy and discipline of the GAY AGENDA, it is like the only winning issue the Democrats seem to know how to win with.

I bet the haters are shaking in their boots losing one of their sexual obsession issues that drawls out all the religious nuts to vote against things

  2. Jason330 says:

The Republicans who can count votes hate this issue. It hasn’t been a real winner for them off years. I’ll be curious to read Mitch McConnell’s statement.

The republican party is an angry self righteous, pridefully ignorant, resentful group of rubes and selfish wealthy old white people. Thankfully the angry old white peaople who make up this party are quickly dying off.

The real threat of religion is when the fundamentalist demands I believe what they believe. I don’t pretend to have all the answers so I support your right to do whatever you want with you life.

Believe what nonesense you like, just don’t make me believe it too.

Republicans (which I am) tend to market themselves as champions for the individual, yet when it comes to drugs, assisted suicide, or a social contract between two individuals, they often become subjective about those issues instead of remaining objective. I’m curious, do you agree that a church or business is allowed to turn away a gay couple?

  6. Jason330 says:

Church yes, business no. I think that is well established.

I just decided that I’m not paying my taxes because some people use the state roads to drive to Hobby Lobby to shop for scrapbooking supplies.

Also, did you know that Muslims are allowed to call the Fire Department?

Joking aside, like I said to the protesters outside the Planned Parenthood fund raiser a few weeks ago. The Culture War is over. You lost. Time to move on down the road…

  8. mouse says:

I can’t believe Muslims are allowed to call the fire dept. I’m calling a talk radio station to complain right now.

There’s a sadistic ilk of people who have always been there to fight reporductive rights. Google history of the birth control pill. Birth Control was illegal not that long ago. The same people are still opposing it and trying to exercise their resentment and desire to control women. In my view these right wing fanatics are dangerous, evil and a threat to civil society and should be opposed at every opportunity

    @jason330
Why can a church turn away a couple but not a business? Does religious belief make discrimination ok? What consistent line of reasoning can you apply that justifies the difference between a church or business?

  11. Liberal Elite says:

@A “What consistent line of reasoning can you apply that justifies the difference between a church or business?”

A church is just a tax exempt social club.
A business serves the public as part of its societal contract.
