The Bureau of Labor Statistics released September’s employment figures on Friday and it was almost entirely good news. The economy added 248,000 new jobs during the month and the unemployment rate dropped to 5.9%. This is the lowest level the jobless rate has been since July 2008. The BLS also revised jobs numbers upwards for the months of August and July, revealing that we actually added 61,000 more jobs than previously estimated during those two months.

I’m on the road all day and help wanted signs are springing up around New Castle County, not the famed “good jobs” but jobs none the less. Expect the numbers to be dismissed, as usual, by Fox News and all things conservative.

What a performance. Strike up the band Americas on a roll….huh?
45 million on food stamps…47 million at poverty levels. Steady decline since 2009 of those who have given up looking for jobs unless of course you are looking for part time min. wage career job.
Ask the graduating classes of the job opportunities that are abound?

The emails requesting campaign contributions because of “financial reporting deadlines” have started and they piss me off. There is nothing that motivates me LESS than your candidate’s need to thump his chest and say, “I’m better than you because I have more money!”

F that. You want me to contribute? Tell me exactly what you need. And why I should give it to you. You need 2000 bucks for yard signs? Great. You need 5k for bumper stickers? You need 10k so the candidate can use a prius to show up to events instead of an SUV. Super. You need to amass a ton of cash to prove a point? Nope.

I’m ashamed that the people running democratic campaigns around the state can’t find a better way to motivate campaign contributions. Until they do, I’m not contributing anything to anyone. My money will do more good in the hands of Drs without Borders or the Red Cross than with Democratic operatives in DE.

The appeal to beating financial deadlines looks alot like an inside baseball appeal too. I doubt that alot of people understand what people do with deadline data so this kind of thing always looks like an appeal to your tribe.

  5. All youse guys/gals who just HAVE to reach your financial goal, I’ll make you a deal.

1 buck for every proposal that appeals to me. No, $10. None of the requests I’ve seen, and yes, EvolvDE, there are several of them, even bother to provide any substantive position on ANYTHING. Presumably, we’re supposed to pony up the money so that the candidate/campaign manager/finance chair can sleep well at night.

    Bleep that.
