Far Right Rethuglican Organization Endorses…Dave Tackett!!??

Filed in Delaware by on July 24, 2014

This is truth, not fiction. The Delaware Chapter of the Faith & Freedom Coalition has endorsed putative Democrat Dave Tackett in the Democratic Primary against State Sen. Bryan Townsend.  Tackett was endorsed along with a bunch of R’s. The Faith & Freedom Coalition is the home for the usual suspect right-wing nut jobs. Ralph Reed is the founder and chairman. Their endorsers include Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, Marco Rubio, the Christian Broadcasting Network, Donald Trump, Michele Bachmann, and Ted Cruz, among many others. This group, this group, has decided to endorse Dave Tackett.   For those who doubt me, here is the press release:

Dear Friends,
The Faith & Freedom Coalition Delaware Leadership Team and Board of Directors have decided to focus on 7 key races in Delaware for 2014.  There are four Senate races where we support Bryant Richardson, Kim Warfield, John Marino, and David Tackett.  The first three are Republicans and David Tackett is a Democrat running against Brian Townsend.  These four key senate races are critical to allow the legislation we support to at lease see a vote and to protect individual liberty.  We are also supporting Ted Kittila for Attorney General.  We know the importance of the Attorney General.  That position protects the people from unjust actions and protects the state from the Federal Government.
This race is absolutely necessary to win.  There are also two Representative races we are supporting Rob Keesler and Judy Travis.  We need these two seats so the Democrats don’t get a super majority.
We will not focus on any other races.  These seven are so important to protect individual liberty and to promote fair and just laws.  We hope that you will join us in this quest to support the races that impact us more than at any other time.  Below is the contact information for these candidates.  They need your help and they need your donations.  We’ve been in the trenches for too long, it’s time to get up and charge.

Faith and Freedom is also working on obtaining a Get-Out-The-Vote system that will enable us tarket areas that need help, identify those who are not voting, and be able to tell us where help is needed.  This will be a great tool in winning elections.  We hope you’ll support this effort.
God bless you all,

Uh, Dave, you wanna tell us why you’re running in a Democratic primary with the support of a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Republican Party? And, while you’re at it, could you tell us what you REALLY stand for? I think primary voters would like to know.

  1. Oh, and here’s what the group that endorsed Dave Tackett stands for:

    http://ffcoalition.com/about

Dave, what do they know about you that we don’t know?

  2. puck says:

Did Tackett do anything to earn their support? Or do they just hate Townsend that much? There must be some key piece of legislation at issue.

  3. While I don’t know, their organization emphasizes the tie-in between religion and government more than virtually anybody else. Abortion appears to be Issue #1. You can check out the link in the first message in this thread to see their priorities.

There are a lot of senators and reps who would have pissed them off, but the only D who was endorsed was Tackett. It’s up to him to explain why as I see virtually nothing in the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s agenda that would be in the Democratic Party’s agenda.

I know that Tackett has been trolling around for union support. Can’t imagine them endorsing someone who supports the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s agenda. To put it mildly, it’s anti-union.

  4. PluribusUnum says:

i mean are any of their members even registered D’s and able to vote for tackett? really dumb.

  5. Anon1 says:

Given the way that Tackett talked about “social issues” in his initial announcement post, I wouldn’t be surprised if he agreed with them on their top priorities.

  6. Anon says:

PluribusUnum: they might not be able to vote in a D primary, but they could try to confuse D voters into thinking Tackett has D values.

  7. HoHum says:

Tackett belongs to Chuck Better’s church down by the Christiana Mall. They are anti-equality, anti-abortion and believe their women should cater to their every need.

  8. HoHum says:

I seriously doubt that there is a single Democratic outside of Tackett in the whole bunch of them.

  9. Geezer says:

    There’s your answer.

  10. Mitch Crane says:

and their endorsement of Richardson is because Venables is a threat to their beliefs???

  11. Geezer says:

No, Venables prays to the wrong Jeebus.

  12. Not making this up. Walking with God to defend the Bill of Rights:

    http://www.ffcdelaware.com/web/guest

Dave Tackett, your constituents hardly knew ye.

  13. Geezer says:

This could end up costing him his county council seat if the press decides to put him on the spot about goofy religious beliefs espoused at his church.

  14. UNREAL. Tackett linked to Ronald Reagan and nutjob preacher, pillars of liberty – bill of rights.

And all I thought I was going to write about Dave was the 20K he took from developers in 2006, the same year Paul Clark assigned him as Co-Chair of the NCC Council Land Use Committee (with Joe Reda).

  15. John Manifold says:

Electing Matt Denn may look like a four-inch putt, but it’s a necessity of life, with Kittila’s dog-whistles made audible by this Allen West/Paul Broun crew.

  16. AQC says:

I saw Dave Tackett’s true colors 8 years ago. I hope he ends up in no public office.

  17. Tackett has now been praised by…Evan Queitsch:

“A guy with good family values and good community focus. Not just on progressive issues that benefit electioneering but issues that matter to all residents. On jobs, on family issues, on governing, I trust Dave.”

First, the Faith & Freedom Coalition, now Evan the Q. Unless Tackett’s a reverse double agent, he’s in the wrong Party.

It says quite a bit about Tiny Tony DeLuca that Tackett was the guy he said he’d pass the torch to.

  18. Geezer says:

Weird way to commit political suicide.
