Episode #4 of my new webcomic “It’s a Short Thing” is up now at Newsworks.org. So please check it out and share it with everyone you know!

You can also bookmark our page, where a new episode will appear every Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Newsworks.org/shortthing.

Ever since I started spending time at the New Jersey Shore, I’ve been fascinated with the odd names bestowed upon towns and areas throughout Southern New Jersey. Bargaintown, Deal, Brick, Egg Harbor, Little Egg Harbor, Avon-By-The-Sea, Love Ladies. There’s even a park called Double Trouble.

So when Kristen and I were coming up with a name for our fictional Shore town, we wanted to capture that quirkiness. Plus, I love the fact there’s an Upper township, Lower township and Middle township. At least it’s hard to get lost.

Southern Delaware also has its share of odd names – Black Hog Landing, Broadkill Beach, Cocked Hat, Hardscrabble. And we may not have a Middle township, but we have a Middlesex Beach, which is infinitely better than Beforesex Beach or Aftersex beach IMHO.
