Does anyone really think that the timing of the patent office revocation the Redskins trademark was a coincidence?

Filed in National by on June 18, 2014

I don’t have anything to add. The football team’s name is racist as all hell. Everyone knows it, so it is just a matter of time now. I only posted this because the headline made me giggle.

  1. Brock Landers says:

Since they approved the trademark and now have taken it away, are the patent office guilty of being Indian givers?

  2. fightingbluehen says:

    Brock Landers for the win.

  3. FenceSitter says:

The proper terminology is Native American givers. Nothing like politics in the patent office.

“Does anyone really think that the timing of the patent office revocation the Redskins trademark was a coincidence?” [sic]

Nope. No coincidence. The timing coincided with the second term of a President who believes he has the right to instantly revoke the ownership of private property , if he feels like it.

And its before 8AM and here is FBH as the Idiot of the Day. Congratulations!

  6. Delaware Dem says:

Yeah, tough to argue that Obama has anything at all to do with this, since the trademark was revoked before, in 1999. Patent Office is pretty independent

  7. ben says:

DD, Obama has been running his scheme since his parents met. It is known.
You better believe he arranged the 1999 revocation. Hell, he was probably behind the team name in the first place, so one day, he could further oppress some poor, rich, white man.

  8. Jason330 says:

By George, it is all clear now. This Obama fellow is a most nefarious dark skinned devil.

  9. fightingbluehen says:

So, who’s next? I mean Redskins is considered too “disparaging” of a term for the government to offer trademark protection.

What about the term “colored” as applied to people of color? Should the NAACP lose it’s trademark protection?

How about certain songs that contain “disparaging” lyrics? How far should they take this?

  10. Jason330 says:

Psst… The slippery slope dodge only work when you can come up with some plausible adverse outcomes.

  11. Geezer says:

@FBH: Here’s a guideline: Don’t name your team a disparaging term for the victims of official government genocide, especially when it’s your government. So no German soccer team should be called the Kikes, for example.

No, not even the Fighting Kikes.

  12. Tom Kline says:

This isn’t first time this has happened to the Redskins. As before they will win on appeal.

The mob needs to move on to something new…

  13. Liberal Elite says:

@TK “As before they will win on appeal.”

    Wanna bet?

  14. Mmmm says:

Hail to the Redskins, HTTR, Hail to the Redskins…. where is the negative ? A lot of words have negative and positive meanings / definitions .We need to focus on the positive , think positive and stop looking in the rear view mirror. Move forward.

  15. Dana says:

I wish that I could say that this is original, but the Washington Redskins name is offensive to every American. They need to drop the Washington part, now!
