First Read:

“There’s an important thing missing from these highlights: direct criticism of President Obama or those in his team… Clinton’s book was always expected to be an important tell about her 2016 ambitions: If she aired dirty laundry, she probably isn’t going to run (because such criticisms wouldn’t help her with the Democratic base). But if she was 95% positive, she probably is going to run. Well, I think we have our answer here, right? This is someone who’s still involved in politics, rather than an ex-politician who’s ready to dish and tell.”

I will be receiving my book Wednesday, and I can’t wait to read it. Another excerpt:

“I wasn’t alone in getting it wrong. But I still got it wrong. Plain and simple.” — Hillary Clinton, quoted in her forthcoming memoir, about voting to authorize the Iraq war. More from Hillary: ““… I should have stated my regret sooner and in the plainest, most direct language possible. … I held out against using the word mistake. It wasn’t because of political expediency. … [I]n our culture, saying you made a mistake is often taken as weakness when in fact it can be a sign of strength and growth for people and nations.”

Duh. If only she had said that in 2007 and 2008. She gave Obama an opening by refusing to say that.

Last week in Denver Hillary repeated the fact that she had to make a lot of hard choices while in office. And, furthermore, she does not thank a government officials such as herself should be judged on those choices. (What)?

  2. jason330 says:

If Biden had voted against the war he would have been carried into office in a sedan chair.

  3. cassandra_m says:

Hillary Clinton will be speaking at the Free Library of Philadelphia on Friday. It’s apparently sold out, though.

But I want to know if voting for the Iraq War was political expediency.

  4. Delaware Dem says:

It was probably a little bit of political expediency and true belief. Remember, the Clintons always liked to bomb Iraq.

  5. fightingbluehen says:

Apparently in her book, Hillary weighs in on the Bowe Bergdahl situation, and she was against the deal before she was for it…. How convenient.

And when they finally tell us that Hillary and the administration didn’t collaborate on the timing of the release of her book, and the release of Bergdahl, are we expected to believe them?

  6. pandora says:

Did you read the book, FBH?

  7. fightingbluehen says:

No. That’s why I said apparently.

  8. pandora says:

So… where are you getting your information?

  9. Geezer says:

Wake up, sheeple! You are all Hillary’s pawns!

  10. fightingbluehen says:

    It’s called the internet, pandora.
Many news agencies run stories about all kinds of stuff all of the time on the internet.

As far as the “she was against it before she was for it”, well that’s just my little spin on it. and it kinda sounded good.

  11. Jason330 says:

That part of your comment isn’t original.

  12. pandora says:

Um… okay. Just checking. You didn’t read the book, but understand the context. Could you provide the internet sites that provided your opinion?

  13. fightingbluehen says:

Practically all the major news sites pandora. Try CNN or maybe Huffpo.

What are you trying to get at anyway…….is this about how I can’t form an opinion without FOX News again pandora? Haven’t we been there already?

  14. fightingbluehen says:

Obviously the phrase isn’t original, jason.
Damn, you can take the boy out of Middletown……….. 🙂

  15. pandora says:

Are you referring to her quotes:

On Bergdahl, the former secretary of state writes that the Taliban’s “top concern seemed to be the fate of its fighters being held at Guantanamo Bay and other prisons.”

“In every discussion about prisoners, we demanded the release of Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who had been captured in 2009. There would not be any agreement about prisoners without the sergeant coming home,” she writes, according to the excerpts.

“I acknowledged, as I had many times before, that opening the door to negotiations with the Taliban would be hard to swallow for many Americans after so many years of war,” she added.

Or are you citing unnamed sources who claim she had a problem with this?

I’m not a diehard Hillary supporter, but can we deal with what she actually said.

And we might want to deal with the fact that you’re a-okay with leaving soldiers behind. What division of the military did you serve in? I never served, but I’m quite familiar with the “Leave no man/woman behind” motto.

  16. SussexWatcher says:

Carolyn Berger is leaving the Supreme Court in September. Sure looks like Strine is ticking a lot of people off.

Markell is getting a huge opportunity to shape the judiciary here.

  17. fightingbluehen says:

Of course you don’t leave a man behind. It’s not about “leaving a man behind”. That’s a diversion, a false flag that supporters are throwing out there to divert attention away from the fact that this deal is controversial.

It’s about the deal. Hillary was against the deal when it was previously discussed, and Congress probably would have been against the deal, which could explain why Obama bypassed Congress and left Diane Feinsteine unhappy, which, by the way, confuses me and makes me suspicious.

  18. Jason330 says:

So you do leave a man behind if you don;t like his politics?

  19. SussexAnon says:

Whatever we negotiate to get a POW back was going to be unpleasant.

What are the options? Money (Obama is funding terrorists!!) Guns (Obama is arming terrorists!!), Tickets to Vegas with front row seats to Cirque du Soleil (Obama is showering terrorists with game show winnings!!) etc. etc.

The Taliban wasn’t going to give up this guy for a couple of cell phones and some chocolate.

The “its about the deal, not the soldier” is out the window. That argument became invalid 24 hours after the deal was announced and the right wing started attacking the soldier.

  20. cassandra_m says:

The only way that you get to this controversy is by making the Bring Them Home mandate secondary to your politics. Which is what all of you wingnuts are doing. Diane Feinstein is unhappy for the reason that most of Congress is unhappy — she thinks her congressional privileges have been crossed. And she might be right — but if this kid need to rely on Congress to come home, he would still be in the hands of the Taliban.

  21. pandora says:

Okay, if people have a problem with the “deal” and they believe we should bring every soldier home… how do they get there?

(SussexAnon already pointed out the obvious pitfalls.)

  22. SussexAnon says:

If Bush did this, he would have been a hero and any opposition would be painted as “supporting the terrorists.”

    Mission accomplished.

  23. ghy says:

Hillie and BIllie have been living off the tax payer for years. Poor soul.
