I haven’t really been following the traitor Cliven Bundy saga closely, because I don’t want to get too pissed off. To me, the issue is clear: this is federal land. The federal government as the owner of the land, allows ranchers to use the land as a grazing area for their livestock, for a price. The rancher has to pay a grazing fee for two reasons. One, if he doesn’t, then he is a criminal trespasser. Two, if the federal government doesn’t charge the fee and collect, or exercise some dominion and control over the land, then they are opening themselves up to claims of adverse possession, which is a fancy legal term for someone gaining legal title to your property after squatting on it in an open, continuous and hostile way for 21 years. So if the government allows Bundy and his band of armed traitors to possess this land without paying the grazing fee, the government could lose the land.
That Bundy is a racist is of no surprise and no real importance to me. I assumed he was. Of course he was. All these conservative militia types are racist. The surprise would have been if he wasn’t racist.
The more important issue to me is the property issue. The federal government should issue an order to Bundy. He and his livestock and his militia shall vacate the federal lands by a date certain, unless Bundy agrees to pay the grazing fees. If Bundy refuses to pay, then he must vacate. If he does not vacate, his livestock shall be confiscated and he and his militia will be forcibly removed from the property. If any person interferes during this process, they shall be arrested. If any of these persons fire at federal officials or law enforcement officers, they will be taken out by professionally trained snipers.
Done and done. Sure, it might lead to another Ruby Ridge or Waco, but who the fuck cares? Since when must traitors and cult leaders be coddled? Since when must we not offend law breakers? Since when does the federal government care if a crackpot doesn’t recognize its authority?
Delaware Political Weekly: April 19-25, 2014
Yesterday, Hunter Biden emerged to tell us that Beau Biden, the new presumed frontrunner for Governor in 2016, is ‘doing great’. The day before, it was Pete Schwartzkopf. Assuming that they speak the truth, can someone, anyone, explain to me why the Beaudhisattva is incommunicado? Is he absorbing more enlightenment beneath the Bo Tree? I’m serious, can someone please provide a plausible scenario that would explain his refusal to come out and say, “Hi, I’m here, I’m healthy, didja miss me?” I honestly don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like this. It defies explanation, at least to me. BTW, if you read Hunter Biden’s statement carefully, he doesn’t say that Beau’s in great health. Come inside for the quote.
As to 2016, while Matt Denn has said that he doesn’t ‘expect’ to run for Governor then, neither has he ruled it out. He didn’t expect to run for AG this year b/c he didn’t expect Biden not to run. I think Matt will accomplish more in two years as AG as Beau has done in six, so he’d be well-positioned to run in 2016, especially if Beau surprises everyone again. Which, IMHO, would be no surprise at all.

In our second post in our informative series on Delaware politics, we shall tackle the Delaware House of Representatives. Yesterday, we discussed the Delaware Senate, and over the coming weeks and months, we will profile each Representative and Senator and their respective districts.

The question is can the GOP pick up the 7 seats they need to win back the majority? The short answer is no, the GOP cannot pick up the 7 seats they need, and that is because there are only 5 potentially competitive Democratic seats, while there are 7 potentially competitive Republican seats that they will have to defend as well. That said, there is opportunity for both parties to pick off incumbents.

Sean Braswell of Ozy.com recently wrote that a President Hillary Clinton will benefit an economic boom that is taking off just at the moment she enters the Oval Office, and she will have her former boss and rival, Barack Obama, to thank for it. Braswell details the five key economic and political trends that should leave Democrats “giddy” and the GOP “scared out of its mind.”
Guest Post — A Skeptic’s View of SB 197 on Human Trafficking
This is a Guest Post from multiple authors who wanted to discuss some of the weaknesses of HB SB 197 as they see it. As always, this Guest Post doesn’t represent the views or opinions of the editors of Delaware Liberal — we’re giving other voices a forum to air their concerns. I’m hoping that the folks who wrote this will join in the discussion.
We (multiple authors) decided to write this post to outline where exactly we see the land lies with SB 197. This particular piece of legislation has been a long time coming, and we roundly applaud Sen. Blevins and all the co-sponsors on the bill. It should sail thru the legislature easily – who would be against stopping Human Slavery.
However it seems other agencies, with the responsibility for enforcing the law seem to be either unaware or uncaring about the problem. […]
2014: The Delaware Senate
We have gotten several comments recently from newcomers to Delaware asking us to explain who the cast of characters that is Delaware politics. So here is a first post in a series of posts giving every one of our readers an overview of the upcoming elections in the Delaware Senate. And then we will review the elections in the House. And then we will profile each and every Senator and Representative in our General Assembly. Each profile will include demographic information about each Senator or Representative, and information about their respective districts.
To aid us in this series will be the graphics and tools of Stephen Wolf and his team at Daily Kos Elections. They have put together a Google Spreadsheet that shows us a map of all the Senate districts in Delaware, and colors them according to how they voted in the 2012 election and which party represents these districts today.
This is is a great tool for a political junkie. What jumped out at me is that there are basically only 6 competitive Senate districts, and only one of them is ripe for a Republican takeover. Come inside to play with the interactive maps and charts!

We have some polling goodness from all over, including some that show that our so called vulnerable southern Democrats are not so vulnerable. Such as Sen. Mary Landrieu, whom I hereby predict she will win her election rather easily. Why? Because she has embraced Obamacare:
[I]n an interview today, Landrieu vowed to campaign aggressively against GOP foe Bill Cassidy’s opposition to the Medicaid expansion in the state, offered a spirited defense of the law—while acknowledging it has some problems—and even insisted he’d be at a “disadvantage” over the issue. […]
“That would be a real setback for the people of Louisiana, many of whom are working 30, 40, 50 hours a week but find themselves caught in the Jindal gap because the state refuses to expand health care options to the working poor at little to no expense,” Landrieu told me, referring to Governor Bobby Jindal’s opposition to the expansion.“This issue is not going away—it will become an issue in the 2015 governor’s race,” she added. “Cassidy has wrapped himself up with Jindal. The question is whether people who work full time or part time in the U.S. should have access to quality and affordable health care.” […]
“I think the benefits that people have received are worth fighting for,” Landrieu continued, citing an end to discrimination against preexisting conditions and extended coverage for young adults on parents’ plans. “I think Bill Cassidy is going to be at a distinct disadvantage. He has insurance, but he’s also denying it to the 242,000 people who fall into the Jindal gap. He also wants to take coverage away from tens of thousands who have gotten it for the first time.”
It makes me real happy when Democrats act like Democrats. This is what every Democrat should sound like this summer and fall. And if you don’t, leave the party and join the Republicans.
Daniello: We Need Serious Negotiating Partners, not Paul Ryan wannabees.
Yesterday, I was emailed this op-ed by John Daniello. I have checked the News Journal and it looks like it it has yet to be published, which is odd, since the News Journal would publish the grocery lists of Senator Lavelle and GOP Chairman Copeland if given the chance. So inside we have the full op-ed from Chairman Daniello’s op-ed, and afterwards, I have some unsolicited advice for our Democrats in the General Assembly. Here is a taste of both:
Delaware Democrats in the legislature are committed to working with their counterparts in the Republican Party. Disagreement is to be expected, but all members of the assembly were elected to work through these disagreements and come to legitimate alternative solutions. For example, Republican State Senator Dave Lawson proposed recently that the state should cut 2% from its budget. He offered no specifics, even though he sits on the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee. He suggested that 2% should be cut without affecting personnel, employee wages, or ‘critical services,’ a term he didn’t define. This is not a serious solution from a legislator who sits through hours of budget hearings.
My advice: Don’t negotiate with yourself. If you move towards the Republicans, the Republicans will move further right. Move to the left instead.
