Jeff Christopher wants to go to war with the United States government on behalf of the residents of Sussex County
Not Breaking – Jeff Christopher is nuts.
The office of sheriff was created to address worries exactly like the rampant militarization of police forces in America, claim two sheriffs who have challenged elected officials in their states over what they believe are unconstitutional abuses of power.
“Right now the threat to individual Americans from al-Qaida and other groups is nowhere near the threat we face from officials in our own country who are working at taking away our liberties,” Delaware Sheriff Jeff Christopher told WND.Christopher has firsthand knowledge of the desire of government officials to usurp authority over local law-enforcement agencies.

Further on in the article, the menace of SWAT teams is mentioned. Since Christopher was the one who wanted to turn the Sheriff’s office into a SWAT team, I’m not sure what his point is. (We need a menacing, undisciplined rogue police force, otherwise we’ll have a menacing undisciplined rogue police force.)
All I can say is if the residents of SC fall for this garbage, they’ll get what they deserve.
Dear God in Heaven: Please give us a Democrat to run for Sheriff and end this once and for all. Someone who, like the Sheriff’s in Kent and New Castle County understand the office they were elected to, and do not play cops and robbers. A sane candidate with both feet on the ground, and no tin foil hat. Amen.
There is a well-qualified Democrat who will be running for Sussex County Sheriff. He decided he had to run when he saw Sheriff Christopher on WBOC TV state that he didn’t care what the State Supreme Court says. This candidate will announce in a few weeks. Oh-El Somnambuol-I do speak for the Sussex Democratic Committee when I state this! 😉

It goes much further than Democrats. All who value safety and sanity should be on board.
I don’t know who is going to throw their hat in the ring. I hope they are qualified (to conduct sheriff sales and serve subpoenas). Even so, even if it is a an aardvark, they will have my support, contribution, and vote.
Should it matter if the opposing candidate is named Larry, Moe or Curly whoever runs against the current ‘sheriff’ has a built in campaign. The mere fact that he has used the words posse comitatus should be enough to make this nut a loser. Add a rouge employee that he supported, fighting with a councilman and redefining the job description after being elected being starter talking points would anyone running against him need to say much more than he/she wants the job described by current law and will do that job as described. Didn’t he even refer to Sussex as a “god forsaken place” at one point? How much unnecessary time, money and effort did this guy cost Sussex?
I understand that the Sherifs office is a row office and counts in the D vs. R big picture, however we in SC are seeking ANYBODY to step up and run against Mr. ” I will leave this God foresaken place”.

To second Dave’s comment, when it comes to Sussex County sheriff, we’re all united as Delawareans. This clown’s supporters are transplanted retirees who should have moved to Arizona.
