Whoa. The difference was WAY more stark than I even imagined it would be. And the white guy looked sketchy as hell. It wasn’t as if a guy in a suit was being compared to a guy in a hoodie.

  2. Black Cobain says:

The cop pulls out his taser, curses at the guy, has him get up against the wall, puts him in cuffs…… and then asks if its his car. Law Enforcement… Light on the law, heavy on the Enforcement.

  3. fightingbluehen says:

Well, in all honesty we only saw what was on the video. We don’t know how the two guys were acting other than the few clips of them simulating picking a lock on a vehicle.

Also, if you are halfway observant, you will notice some obvious discrepancies in the way they edited their video.

I’m not saying that black people don’t get unfairly singled out by cops, but this video is probably not the most accurate depiction of that.

  4. Jason330 says:

Now I’m curious. Are little cartoon birds flying around your head?

  5. fightingbluehen says:

Really? Check the video out again. The video is taken in two different spots. The lights on the car sometimes blink on and off with the alarm, and sometimes they don’t. When the cop drives by, the lights aren’t blinking but the alarm is apparently going off. Just saying…..and don’t start making jokes about missing strawberries.

  6. SussexAnon says:

This isn’t the only video like this. A hidden camera tv show did a similar bit where they had a white guy, a black guy and a pretty white girl trying to steal a bike.

White guy gets ignored, black guy gets the cops called and the pretty girl gets asked if she needs help.

Maybe I am missing the blinking lights on the car, I don’t see them. Would love to see the raw video, though. Especially the part where they explain to the police what they are doing.

  7. LeBay says:

    Complete bullshit.

Anyone who complained about Brietbart’s videos should keep their mouths/keyboards shut about this one.

  8. cassandra_m says:

The video is taken in two different spots.

Because setting up the same two guys in the same exact space trying to get into that car wouldn’t look to observers like a reality TV show has set up camp. Unless you want to make the case that there is *someplace* where the black guy wouldn’t have been nailed for the same behavior.

  9. fightingbluehen says:

All you see is brief footage of these guys. The white guy has a coat hanger, and he looks like he’s jerking it off, and the black guy has a coat hanger and some other tool, and actually looks like he’s trying to pick the lock.
The white guy looks like he could be in China town, and the black guy looks like he is on Hollywood boulevard. I’m actually not sure if that makes a difference or not.
The car alarm noise also seems like it could have been added after the fact in some shots. Plus, like I said, we don’t know how they acted during the whole experiment. We only see what the video shows.

Is there profiling by cops? Yes.
Does this video show this? Inconclusive in my opinion.

  10. Jason330 says:

Building the redoubts of interlocking rationalizations that people like FBH need to build just to get through a normal day must be utterly exhausting.

  11. fightingbluehen says:

Yeah, I guess it would be a whole hell of a lot easier to just accept everything at face value.

  12. Dave says:

It looks like profiling to me. However, it is poorly done and would have been much starker if it had not been edited (2 minutes later sign, background music, car alarm, etc) They should have let the video speak for itself instead of having the appearances of a production.

  13. knows better says:

I’ve got to go with Dave and FBH on this one. It’s a poorly done UNscientific social experiement in two very different locations (tree in second location is dead giveaway as well as background and more). This is wrong in so many ways and to be used as a profiling statement is silly. For it to have been done properly it would have to be done in the exact location both times and that’s just a start! Sorry Cassandra you missed on this one.

  14. cassandra_m says:

No one claimed it to be ‘scientific”, but I’ll note that somehow the daily experience of millions of people needs *science* for it to be real to you.

    🙄

  15. fightingbluehen says:

A video for your viewing pleasure. Good night everybody.

  16. Jason330 says:

An ounce of skepticism applied to your wing nut economics would cause your worldview to collapse, so it is a good thing you keep it reserved for debunking the notion black people are treated diifferently than whites.

  17. fightingbluehen says:

It has nothing to do with “debunking the notion black people are treated diifferently than whites”.
It has everything to do with the fact that the guys making these videos are pranksters.

  18. Jason330 says:

    Right.

  19. Black Cobain says:

What you just showed FBH was another social experiment. Testing people’s reaction to certain things. Nobody said these guys deserve a Nobel Peace Prize, but to attempt to discredit the video by showing this seems like you’re reaching for some reason.

  20. fightingbluehen says:

Say it. I know you want to say it
