Right Wing Terror Plot Foiled.

Filed in National by on February 24, 2014

Three members of a right wing conservative terrorist organization have been arrested in Georgia and charged in federal court with conspiracy to attack federal agencies with explosive devices. The conservative terrorists were planning on using pipe bombs and thermite devices, and the target of their planned terrorist bombing appears to be TSA and FEMA offices, among other agencies.

“This case is a stark reminder of the threat we face not just from abroad, but from within our own borders from our own citizens,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates. “When plans turn violent, law enforcement must step in to protect our communities from harm. Fortunately, the FBI was able to stop these defendants before they were able to carry out their plans.” […]

Authorities say that between Jan. 23 and Feb. 15, [Brian] Cannon, [Cory] Williamson, and Terry Eugene Peace, the third defendant, participated in online chat discussions about carrying out an operation against the government that was to be launched in February.

Peace encouraged members of the militia to review guerrilla warfare tactics, small unit tactics, accumulate supplies, and prepare their families, authorities charge. Peace also identified targets such as “…TSA, DHS, non-emergency FEMA, road blocks, etc.” The discussions were reported to the FBI, and the FBI then began consensually monitoring the communications. […]

“The FBI can no longer wait to respond to the aftermath of a radicalized individual’s or group’s threats. Instead, we have to bring our investigative and analytical assets to bear in getting ahead of those threats and potential attacks and do so within the rule of law.”

I suspect we will see more of this in the coming years, especially after President Hillary Clinton takes office. Once the right wing terrorists realize the ‘Republican Party as managed by the Tea Party’ will never again win a Presidential election, they will go insane. More so.

This is the predicable trajectory of modern Republicanism. The racial grievances and over heated culture of imagined threats to their “liberty” nursed by a radical media and cynical politicians like Charlie Copeland don’t simply dissipate into the air.

The second most deadly bombing in the U.S. was done by right wingers. The right wing nuts cry patriotism but, I judge them on their actions.

  3. Tom Short says:

These guys were not a MILITIA. They were kicked out of every militia that they joined. We as MILITIA have to police our own ranks. Sometimes it ends like this. I am glad they were turned in. Imagine the countries veiws if they were successful in there activity. We are not bad people as MILITIA members. We gave doctors police firefighters and business owners among us. You can’t judge an entire population by a few bad apples

do you feel that way about/…….

    gay people

    Muslims

    immigrants

if so – well good for you – welcome to the human race

if not – look in the mirror and tell us what you see….

out of curiosity…what exactly IS a “militia” as you see it. I mean we have the Police, the FBI, DEA, ICE, DHS , the National Guard, and a standing army…..etc

what is the vacancy you are filling and why do you feel the need to so so??

    be specific please.

  5. Jason330 says:

As I try to think of what distinguishes a “good militia member” from a “bad apple” the only thing I can come up with is the “good militia member” hasn’t tried to bomb a federal building yet.

Some militias exist in preparation for those times when the “Police, the FBI, DEA, ICE, DHS , the National Guard, and a standing army” aren’t around during catastrophic events. Hurricane Katrina, for example, had militia members acting as neighborhood watch to prevent looting. Some neighborhoods of New Orleans did not see a public official for days after the hurricane.

Militias believe in self reliance in the face of emergencies. Such as preparing for long term power outages, being snowed in or cut off/isolated due to weather or other events. Commonly referred to as “preppers”

Some militias are “strict constitutionalists” which is often code speak for “almost”
insurrectionists. And some of these militias aren’t as much constitutionalists as they are christian dominionists. Using the constitution as an excuse to “restore” America to its true christian values.

    All militias are not alike.

Some militias exist in preparation for … catastrophic events. Hurricane Katrina…

We used to call them neighbors. When you are moved to militarize your charity work, I suspect your intentions are less than pure.

  8. SussexAnon says:

“we used to call them neighbors” Yeah, back in the good ol’ days.

Like the liberal neighbors that asked Chalrton Heston if he had any guns they could borrow to defend themselves during the LA riots.

“When you are moved to militarize your charity work, I suspect your intentions are less than pure.”

I, too, am suspicious of the Salvation Army with their uniforms and ranks while helping the poor. lol.

  9. Jason330 says:

Your appetite for bullshit is noted. Stories of violent mayhem attending natural disasters is mother’s milk to wingnuts because the stories confirm the wingnut’s diseased world view.

In reality American help each other out. Fox News will never cover it, but it has always been so.

  10. SussexAnon says:

“In reality American help each other out…” Riiiight. Riots and looting NEVER happen.

Everyone comes together in one big Cumbuya moment like the end of an after school special.

And lets not forget about that wonderful sheriff in a Parish adjacent to New Orleans that set up a barricade on a bridge and told all the “neighbors” that if they walked across the bridge they would be shot. Always helping each other indeed.

But, please, do tell, what makes you so suspicious of the Salvation Army? The uniforms? Its gotta be the uniforms, right?

Smells like BS to me. In Delaware, we had a bomb of the month thing going with Club Fed. I think out of all these “bomb” scares, they found 2 people that had safely stored some explosive material in their homes. But when I hear of FBI and pipe bombs, I can’t help but think of how the FBI set up Edgar Steele and endangered the lives of his family and community with their shenanigans.

Of course it smells like BS to you. White guys planning to blow up government buildings is perfectly fine — it’s the Muslim ones who are the real terrorists. Sheesh.

  13. Jason330 says:

With their track record for blowing people up because they have the gall to work in a federal building, I don’t think we can afford to shrug off these right win terror cells.
